Rain54 2008-10-07 . chapter 4Thanks for posting this particular story up on :) It's been awhile since I last watched Twelve Kingdoms but reading this has brought back the same feeling as if it was just yesterday! Very interesting perspective, I really enjoyed the transition between Risaku's comment, the actual scene, and Chinsi's journal. Truly well written. Also enjoyed reading Chinsi's personality reflected on her journals, and the way she perceived other people's characters. She's an interesting character, her comments on Hourin's very amusing :) Toufu's an interesting choice for a name too. I like how you took time to write how everyone improved as the story progressed. Hourin's development (and her personality) were interesting to follow, being such an angsty kirin. The depth of the story certainly shows as the chapter progresses. I guess the things I'm having trouble with were the names and titles :)
That being said, I can't remember what happened in the anime to Hou - there was certainly a mention of a country in which the empress was very close to her kirin, but i'm not sure if it's Hou or other ones.
Hope you're still planning to write more of this (and of course your other stories too)! Absolute gem on Twelve Kingdoms' fandom. This story really made my day :) |
Beltz 2008-08-25 . chapter 4Excellent story and I love the perspective used, from the historian's point of view to his research and usage of Chinshi's journal.
Also, the fact that you included kanji pronunciation for terms and names made it more believable that we were reading academic work from an historian.
I'd love to see more. |
ItalicsInIndigo 2008-08-14 . chapter 4love it, love it, love it! Unusual subject, for which you get major kudos. I never really thought about Hourin before but you've made her into such an interesting character. A very fresh and original take on 12k fanfiction. I also like the factual format and Chinshi's voice - it adds a nice blend of lighthearted humour to balance out the darkness of the situation. Great use of language too. Please update soon! |
