I loved how you described Pess run to greet him;

"...the familiar sound of bounding steps and claws skittering on the hardwood floor echoed from down the hallway..." and "...Pess came dashing in to greet him, tongue lolling out of his mouth and tail wagging, threatening to knock over anything in its path..."

Very nice, so far. It's nice to see Apollo contemplating sexuality and yet never bring it back to himself. Impressive.
I also can't wait to see the perspective switch. Is it Klavier? If it is, then I'm gonna applaud you for just taking on the task. It's hard enough to make Klavier convincingly nervous, but to also attempt to ad a small layer of angst AND his thoughts on the whole ordeal... That takes guts, pally.
