P'tfami 2009-06-30 . chapter 10Except for a few grammatical errors that disrupt the flow, this is a well thought out mystery. You have distributed even consideration to all the characters without losing thread of the plot's workings and that is a commendable thing in a writer.
I need clarification though: I thought the Riddler's real name was Edward Nashton with Nygma being the non de plume he adopted, viz, E.Nygma as in Enigma? its more likely he would make up Nygma as opposed to being born under it. I know there are conflicting reports regarding this piece of information but i don't believe in glaringly obvious coincidences.
Are we to understand then that Dr. Alice's hypothesis is correct? Edward Nygma seems to have succumbed to his alter ego in the end, though as the comics would indicate: he does eventually figure out Batman's identity and he does end up working as a private detective.
Will you consider future fics on Eddie the detective? I think he would make a good foil for Detective Yin - I can envision their mutual exasperation yet grudging respect on working together on future cases.
Its a long review, but that's all the feedback I can give. Good work! |
AliceElizabeth1 2009-04-26 . chapter 10Aw I cried when the riddler died. He's my favorite bad guy.
That was a really good story. It should
Be made into a movie and I'm not kidding, I can totally see it on the big screen.
I would have written a different ending though. Haha. But you're like a gazillion times better writer than me so what do I know? |
 Cybernetic Mango 2009-04-20 . chapter 10He's...THE RIDDLEPIRE! :D |
BrocktreeJustLeft 2009-01-09 . chapter 10I agree with Fraxle, this story was very good, and a sequel would be superb. |
Espada Ranked Arrancar 2008-12-20 . chapter 10This is a pretty good story. I hope you write more in the future. Check out my story when you have time. |
JenEvan 2008-11-26 . chapter 10Have to admit I never read fics bout American comics, but this is quite interesting. And I think you did a good job in maintaining the story pace, while at the same time we managed to get some in-depth glimpse at the main characters.Since I dont read much bout Batman n company, I cant comment much on characterisation; but I think you've fleshed out the characters quite well.
Thanks for the nice read. |
Fraxxxle 2008-11-18 . chapter 10I shall be frank:
OH MY GOOD PUMPKIN PIE WRITE A SEQUEL IF ONLY TO KEEP ME (and most likely a few other readers) SANE!
The way you write Edward is superb! |
 Dalia N'Shard 2008-10-13 . chapter 10Excelent story, I certainly hope there's a sequal somewhere in your head.
About chapter nine, rather reminded me of themes from several movies where the character in question dies shortly after redeeming his/herself, but Nygma can't be dead...right? *Shakes LuckyLadybug* RIGHT!?! |
Shmellington 2008-09-30 . chapter 10O.O WOW WOW WOW brilliant, immense, fantabulous! |
Phillip Clark 2008-09-28 . chapter 10I've been a fan of "The Batman" since its debut, but I never checked out any fanfictions concerning it until I read yours. That said, here's my review:
Your writing is brilliant! I could just imagine that being an actual episode! You wrote the Riddler quite excelently (especially liked his emotions following that Season 4 episode, can't remember what it was called right now), and I also liked the fact that Yin played an important part in the action as well (I really didn't like the way the show just dropped her after Season 2). And the ending...even though this was "The Batman", it seemed like an apporopriate nod to one of the omenous endings B:TAS was so famous for back in the day.
Another thing I liked in here was the fact that your villians were so well-thought-out. The Chessmaster had the typical psychotic evil and twisted motive possesed by many of "The Batman" villians. He was truly omnipresent in here, especially considering we didn't actually meet him until the second-to-last chapter. And Dr. Alice Portman was equally sinister as well, reaching a level I thought only Strange could possess. I hope we see more of her in your sequals.
Anyway, congratulations on this amazing work and good luck to you in writing your sequals. I'll be on the lookout 'til then... |
Tie-dyed Trickster 2008-09-22 . chapter 10We'd bloody well better not have!
Good ending, if a touch too ambiguous for my tastes. So he /is/ alive! Good! And Yin will be happy to see him again and Bruce doesn't have to have Edward's death hanging over his head and Edward gets his second chance! Excellent! (pause) Um, any idea when you'll start writing that sequel? Could it be very soon, please? I'm incredibly keen to know what happens next and how Edward survived and what he's going to do now and everything! It was a wonderful fic, but it's not over yet!
Trickster (worryingly enthusiastic reader) |
Tie-dyed Trickster 2008-09-22 . chapter 9NO! (pause) You said you were thinking about writing a sequel. Therefore he can't be dead. Otherwise there would be no sequel. Yes. (nods firmly)
Poor Yin, she was starting to like Edward a fair bit. And poor Edward... (sniffles) He's finally on the right path, though, and I think he'll stay on it. It wouldn't be logical to get off it at this point. (pause) I still like this fic, btw, even if you did leave a nasty cliffhanger for the end of this chapter. No idea if I would if I couldn't read the last chapter tonight. Gott Sie dank I can!

Tie-dyed Trickster 2008-09-22 . chapter 8Knew it. Poor Edward... (pause) Too much adrenaline late at night for me to write a coherant review at the moment, will write a longer one for next chapter, probably. Joy - the Riddler costume no longer signifies total villain! And he was gonna save Julie, even if she didn't deserve it, and he failed, and now... now he's gone to solve the riddle... O_O!
Trickster (who is vibrating with the amount of adrenaline coursing through her veins at this moment in time) |
Tie-dyed Trickster 2008-09-22 . chapter 7(happy sigh) So /that's/ what he's wearing! I'd been wondering how he was managing to wander around Gotham in his costume... I like the choice of attire, showing, as mentioned, a willingness to cooperate but maintaining an independant/rebellious flair. Very nice. Easy to conjure a mental image of, too. He looks good!
Nothing scarier than finding out that someone's scheduled your death for the night... I really enjoy Edward and Yin's conversations - they give fascinating glimpses into the way his mind works, as well as how Yin's own mind works.
Personally, I think his smugness and superiority are in actuallity a defense tactic. He never got approval at home, from what I assume he rarely got it as an adult, either, and that's a recipe for some pretty deep-seated insecurity if you ask me, especially when combined with his father's accusations of cheating and not telling the truth. I do the same thing when I'm acting sometimes and have stage fright or feel ridiculous - I tell myself that I'm above self-consciousness, it's a thing for lesser beings to experience. And if you aren't getting praise from anyone else, the only person left to get it from is yourself.
As always, love the story!

Tie-dyed Trickster 2008-09-22 . chapter 6(claps hands) Well done, Edward! You talked to Gorman /and/ Julie face-to-face and you didn't lose control once! :)
I liked Edward's conversation with Yin, about her not liking having him out of Arkham and what she thought of him. Also liked Yin's thoughts on the matter of him being a monster or not - she likes him, way deep down, she likes him. And he's flirting with her, in his own labyrinthine way. They saved Gorman! (pause) I'm not sure whether I should cheer or boo. It's good that Edward is continuing on his path towards the good side, but still... it's /Gorman/. He's a jerk. (pause) I vote we send him to Domino city.
This is such a great story! |
