Lasgalendil 2008-09-04 . chapter 1I too, am dealing with a past obsession with the Last Unicorn! I watched the movie as a child and read the book for the first time as an adult-and it is a thousand times more magical than the movie ever was, even as a kid.
You did an excellent job of echoing the author's and movie's descriptions of a unicorn. Your summary of the story through dialogue was very powerful.
I don't know how I feel about Lir and Amalthea getting together and having a kid. The closest I can think of is good science fiction: accept the author's strange premise, and the rest of the story flows. However, it's not my work, but yours, and you did it beautifully. Do I like it? Dislike it? I don't know. It's like eating foreign food--it's just different.
Some constructive criticism/confusion with "But I knew he couldn't be killed. Unlike immortals such as you and I, he was something else. Something that truly was eternal." If the Red Bull is eternal, shouldn't we be talking about him in the present tense? You used "never fights...conquers...doesn't fight." Why is he suddenly in the past?
Keep writing! I am looking forward to reading more of your stories! |
