This really breaks my heart. It also frightens me to some degree. Hermione sounds lucid. Logical and reasonable as she ever was. It feels so real in a way that hurts. I am to an extent a sophist and so "Cat's Cradle" reaches to me in many ways. I can believe in Hermione that Severus is really there, for this is Hermione and this is magic and plain life and existence as we will never truly grasp or understand. I can also believe that Hermione chooses to believe Severus is there with her, concious(definitely concious) that she is allowing Severus to become an existence within her reality. But this fanfic is moving to the reader, to me specifically, because it so clearly portrays that what *is* is not the general reality seen or accepted by society, but the reality of the individual. How it is very much real and true, no matter that it can only be understood by one and because so.

Wow! I felt I knew what was happening but to see it unfold like a slowly blossoming flower was eerie, sad, yet triumphant at the same time. Who would leave madness if only to lose such love?

First off, I'm not a big Hermione/Snape guy. I fail to see how those two could ever be together. That being said, this was a rather well-written story and you captured Hermione's insanity excellently.
