stella8h8chang 2008-08-26 . chapter 1Oh god, my eyes are watering too - the way you went from one of the best feelings in the world - falling in love for the first time - to the most awful - losing a family member, reliving all the mistakes you've made in the past and so on.
Really beautiful characterisation and interaction between Albus and Gellert here. Only the dialogue irked me at certain times because it didn't feel quite Victorian enough. I loved the way you distinguished between plain magic, and the "magic" of love (especially a young person's naiive love).
I thought you did a great job of the "supporting cast" too! Aberforth, Ariana and Elphias were really well-portrayed. Also appreciated your attention to detail when you explained Gellert's "philosophy". And the way you chose to end Ariana's life - so creative and powerful.
I'm adding you to our "Grindeldore" C2! |
twinklewind 2008-08-25 . chapter 1I like the little touches, Ariana making big noises, her being powerful, but with no control. In very important ways, Albus, Gellert are like her, their control not the type that matters. And Albus visiting Grindelward, that's a neat touch.

Nefariousandrea 2008-08-24 . chapter 1I usually don't read angst but i've never seen a Grindelwald and Dumbeldore story so I decided to give it a chance; and I really shouldn't have. It was so sad, I even cried a bit in the end. Poor Albus and as I was reading I kept thinking 'He never had another lover did he?' and I keep thinking 'If only I could make Grindelwald good so that him and Albus can be together.' Because after everything Dumbeldore's done and been through he deserves a little love and peace. Ya' know? |
Adalibina 2008-08-24 . chapter 1I like, well written, in keeping with canon, altogether well done. I love the pairing, but it makes me sad. No happy endings for this pair. |
