2009-11-30 . chapter 12
I don't know how to say it, but it's almost a stroke of genius that you managed to include that many elements at once.

So we find out Azula's not really crazy? I'm actually surprised and not surprised at the same time. I'm surprised because at the end of the series, I truly believed she went bonkers. The betrayal of her friends Mai and Ty Lee, along with snippets of her mother, was enough to convince me that the insanity was real. But then again, Azula is used to being very manipulative, sometimes saying totally opposite things at the same time, so it might not be the case that she's really cray. In fact, it might actually be the norm for her. Nonetheless, I really hope this issue can be clarified, as I feel we shoul dhave at least some clue as to what's going on.

I like how you manage to include Toph's parents, which we haven't heard of after the show, and Ursa knowing them at the same time. The Bei Fongs, being nobility, are bound to have connections to high places. That being said, I'm a little shocked that they knew Ursa so well, as to say that she was a childhood friend of Mr. Bei Fong. This is because I'm under the impression that the Fire Nation viewed the other races with scorn, and considers them inferior. So for Ursa to be close with Mr. Bei Fong is rather illogical for the background of the show, unless she's one of these Iroh-like people that had respect for all cultures. Either way, this is another issue that I hope to get answers to.

I'll just leave it here for now, and come back to it later on.

It's a little while since I continued reading this story, but here am I, continuing where I left off.

First off, let me commend you on the way you dealt with Kataang in this story. While many people will say they should be together and live happily ever after, I actually find what you did realistic. I believe that any relatioship requires time to build on, and there will be ups and downs that lead the coupl eto become stronger. Having our two characters go through these trials is not only normal, but also advantageous should they want their relationship to prolong. Many thanks for taking this more realistc, but less-taken, path.

Second, the plot-twist with Azula, and parallel to Ursa's current situation, is also very well thought out. While Azula is "supposedly" crazy, we see how lost she seems to be. As well, Ursa is equally lost when she found out about the truth, that the Fire Nation did siginificant damage to its own reputation in the world, and now has to do some soul-searching. The parallel and subsequent symbolism strikes a powerful tone but also an interesting balance in dealing with what the two are going through.

So I'm happy to be continuing with this, and I'm anxious to see what happens next!

I'm scared now what do Sokka and Suki do with Momo

I don't know if I consider this a twist or not, but the fact that you explored the background between Ursa and Ozai so well really makes this story more intriguing.

I liked the comment you made regarding Ozai, and how Ursa viewed him. You said Ursa felt Ozai wasn't really capable of burning a city to the ground and such. It does compliment Zuko's comment that their family was complete once before. Which only makes me want to ask: what happened to the family, and how did things become this bad?

I'm very impressed with everything so far, and if I weren't so busy I'd be reading even more for now. I'll talk to you another time, and hopefully you can see my latest chapter.

These two chapters are also very well done. I definitely think you got the dynamics of each character shown realistically. I would agree with you that Aang and Katara, at their current age and the state of affairs in the world, they probably would see things as moving too fast between them.

And Toph, I agree with the fact that she's a very good observer, in the sense that she was understanding of Sokka's reaction to her and to Suki. Of course, it'll never stop Toph from liking Sokka, and Sokka from being just friends with Toph, but you gave her just enough to let us understand the rarely-shown softer side of Toph. This is well done.

As for Ursa's mysterious place, I'd love to see what's going on. I personally think this avenue of the franchise is rarely addressed, and ought to be discussed more often. I'm still hoping for more info on that stuff later on, but for now I think you're just taking it slow, exploring the issues relating to each character after the battle more than anything else.

Anyway, very good job so far. And if you have time, please drop by my story, which has just been updated. Thanks!

So here I am, finally getting a chance to read some of your longer stories. Since it seemed like you're doing things via a chronology, I thought I would start with the oldest story.

Again, the character interaction is superb. It's pretty realistic for Aang to heap all that responsibility onto himself, and the others to follow suit. I'm a little surprised that Zuko would dump the responsibility of finding Ursa onto Aang alone, as he's pretty interested in his mother's outcome as well. But like you said, he's pretty much stuck in the Fire Nation, a prisoner to the bureaucrats and ministers.

And that last bit with Ursa in it, what a twist! I never would have expected her to be in house-arrest in some mysterious location for 7 years. Good on you for thinking up of that one. So is Komo supposedly an OC you thought of to guard and observe Ursa all this time? I love the way you described it, especially with the line "it was pointless to press Komo because questioning him always led in frustrating circles." It seemed pretty realistic considering that the Fire Nation propaganda machine was so strong, to the point where people are clueless about the world.

So very good start, and I'll be sure to read more on this later on.

Well...you've succeeded in giving the Avatar fans a Season 4. (I almost hope that there isn't actually a show epilogue, because I love how yours turned out.) I admit that I did skip around to the ship-py parts (no matter what the couple) and that I sometimes skimmed over the paragraphs dealing with Ursa and Komo, but really--this is the best Avatar epilogue I've ever read. It played out just like an episode in my mind.
So thanks for it. =)

This chaper was absolutely beautiful. (As was the brief moment when Zuko thought Mai died...why is that beautiful to me? lol I guess I like bittersweet stuff.) Anyway, I'm sad that it's almost over! =(

Let's just hope that they work this out...

I'm loving this so far; I can't wait to read more and I'm hoping that there's a couple Maiko scenes to quench my fangirl ship obsession =D
(Oh, and thank you for spelling June's name "June", not "Jun". You have no idea how the latter was annoying me lol)

That was a satisfying ending to a satisfying story. I really enjoyed the humour that showed up here - Sokka's "dynamic" where Aang and Katara are concerned tickled me pink, as did the joking about Zuko's reflections. And I'm glad to see that Komo and Ursa get to have a happy ending. :D This is a great story, and I'm so glad you posted it. Thank you!

Yay, more awesome! And heartwarming moments too - I love those, especially in the middle of a battle. And now I feel kind fo sorry for Azula - she had it coming, but the way she turned out wasn't her fault. Well, not completely, anyway. =/

This was a really great chapter - I loved the way you described the fighting, and it was nice to get to see everyone being awesome. Even Azula, I guess, although I tend to like it more when she's less awesome, because then there's a much smaller chance of the characters I really like dying. XD

So ... Lei Jin is dead, which I have absolutely no problem with, but Azula's abrupt appearance is cramping my reviewing style because I need to go read the next chapter RIGHT NOW but this one was great thanks bye!
