That was perfect! So... beautifully macabre! I never would have thought of feeding one of those things to Shelob! And I do agree: people send these characters to places that are too safe, too logical. I'm sure alternate-dimension-travel would be more chaotic (who knows, a person could end up lodged half-way into the floor of the dungeons of Barad-dur)! I hope you do more of this kind of story in the future.
