TexasJen 2008-10-01 . chapter 1This was really, really good! I don't watch GG, so I can't comment much on the characterization, but the wedding was just lovely, especially the vows. I love how Lorelai incorporated her dream into hers, and how she and Luke were talking during the prayer. |
kazalene 2008-09-12 . chapter 2Okay, three words: That. Was. Incredible.
I really do think this is the best thing you've ever written. You just keep getting better and better with everything that you write. It's strange, but I think this piece held more emotion in it than Irony did. Maybe because everything flowed amazingly well, and it just had this natural ease to it.
You write GG like you were born to do it. Every single one of the characters was captured perfectly, even MS. Patty, and you only had an abbreviation to define her. You caught the humour and the dialogue of the show so well, and it felt like I was reading almost a script of an episode. But I could imagine everything that was happening.
I loved that you incorporated most of the people of Stars Hollow, and didn't forget that they existed. It just made it all the more real.
Fantastic job, Amanda. And I'm sorry I didn't review this last night - by the time I finished work business I was shattered. I hope this makes up for it, anyway.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. |
lostladyknight 2008-09-04 . chapter 1So I finished my challenge piece and in accordance with our agreement I've sat down here to read it. I never said anything about a reveiw but I know how much you wanted one, so here I am. How much do you love me? You love me.
Anyway, this was very good. As I suspected, it's my favorite thing you've ever written. It wasn't as marathon, coarse, and tough to read as Irony. All of your work is amazing, breathtaking, and absolutely wonderful, even piecies I'm less fond of than other but this one was even more than that.
This one was... a mixture of many things that make fanfiction so wonderful. You've employed humor, and that's one thing I love about fanfiction. Well, no, not all fanfiction is funny. But Gilmore Girls always makes you laugh. No matter the episode there is always something that makes you go "wow" and then have a pretty good chuckle. It's one of the things that attracted me to the show in the first place. What makes fanfiction great is the way it showcases ability. When a person can emulate the same humor in a show, which you have here, it just makes the reader feel so much mroe connected to the piece.
Uh, I also loved the cameos from all of the important characters of the series. Kirk, Lane, Richard and Emily, Christopher, Sukie, Jackson, Taylor, TJ, April, Liz, Jess, Paul Anka, AND of course Lorelai, Rory, and Luke. No episode or fanfic would truly be complete without a little view of all of them. I was even half expecting Paris to show up and give Lorelai some speech about how she's the only mother she ever knew. lol.
And I really just loved the whole presentation. I liked the three parts. I liked the way the challenge fit. I liked how you had all the characters in character. It was... nice.
There were some things that made me wonder. Why wasn't Sukie's daughter the flower girl? Isn't April a little old to be a flower girl? Why were the earings something borrowed instead of something new? Why didn't Paul Anka or Davey carry the rings? And of course there were some small errors that you missed in the editing process.
There's so much more that I loved but I'm all over the place right now. I can't remember everything. IM me and hound me about it, I'm sure I can think of more.
I love you.
I loved it.
