Wow...this is very sweet.

I have a copy of the original Little Mermaid story. I think that HCA wanted to end it with the mermaid saying something like, "I myself shall strive to win an immortal soul...that in the world beyond I may be reunited with him to whom I gave my whole heart." That was cut out of the final version, but I think that that sentence would have fit perfectly here.

The ending made me SO sad but it shows how much he still loved her even though she never had her voice back ever again. Beautiful simply beautiful. :)

This is so moving. Ariel never regaining her voice and seeing Flounder washed up on the shore like that. :'( very touching.
