As for James, we see him threaten Lily with violence just for sticking up for her friend ("Don't make me hex you"), whilst blaming her for his own bad actions ("I'm going to be violent to you but see, you made me do it, it's all your fault"), and deceive her in order to go on doing something he knows she would hate (he hides from her the fact that he is still persecuting Severus). Unless he did a *lot* of growing up, amounting to a near-total personality transplant, he would probably have turned out to be a wife-beater, unfaithful or both. |
