Guest 2/19/13 . chapter 1
I LOVE this. It is honestly one of the most beautiful Death Note fics I have ever read.

I particularly love Near- he is so different from other people in how they handle their emotions. He makes a conscious decision not to over-think it, to accept it, keep it with him in an almost meditative way.

He is clear, honest, profound. He is certainly not emotionless, as I have seen far too much, but he does not dwell on his emotions. He is...just amazing. His relationship with Mello, the respect and understanding with Sayu, the analysis of something other people would find too strange to look into...he is completely astounding.

I've never considered MelloxSayu before but this I love. I love Sayu too, because she is a minor character but she also has a lot of abstract thought in that head of hers and it is kind of a shame it is not expanded on.

I'm sorry you never expanded on the story, but it is true that the distance between Near and the lovebirds makes it mystical. TT HEARTS.

I like this.

It's a bit sad, of course, since nearly everything involved with the Death Note is laced with tragedy, but I really did like this.

Well done.
NightOfAThousandDreams 4/19/11 . chapter 3
This was beautifully written. I love the idea of Near narrating the "undocumented" happenings between Mello and Sayu. The little email tidbits from Matt were good too. I was definitely in tears by the time I reached the end of the fic. It made me want to change things, so that Mello and Sayu would have indeed stayed together, happily.

But it's Death Note. No such things as "happily ever afters" in that fandom :P

great!

How, how, HOW can you be so harsh on yourself? It wasn't crappy, it wasn't a let-down, and it certainly wasn't forgettable. It was beautiful.

Your prose is astonishing and clear; you never lay it on too thick or make your descriptions sound sappy, but the images still stick in mind. And, holy God, this IS Near: Linear, analytical, straightforward, honest, clear and precisely NEAR. How do you do that? How do you write a beautiful love story involving two of the most contradictory characters in the series, narrated by the most emotionless guy you'll ever meet, and make the audience still feel invested? You are a gifted story teller, and this left a huge lump in my throat.

It was honestly wonderful. :)

This is nothing short of brilliant. The characterization and pain leaking through this piece is outstanding. Loved it to the last word.

Holy .. holy shit. I can't even begin to describe how much I adored this story. It's just amazing.

The timeline feels so real and true to the story, Near is so in-character that how he speaks is almost haunting, and Sayu is portrayed to beautifully that it's absolutely wonderful.

I love how the emotion boils right under the surface, like there's so much Near himself is struggling with but can't say out of respect for their story, and how he continues. I love how he just comes out with things, and doesn't trip over his uncertainty, and the reason why Sayu doesn't speak just .. feels so beautiful and tragic.

Aasjanjsnkjreg. I'm sorry if I'm just rambling, but this story is really amazing. Everything is just absolutely wonderful about it, and the song you picked really does fit them well. The objective involvement Near has was really a good choice for telling this story, and you do this style perfectly, even if it was difficult. c:

This is officially one of my favorite stories in the Death Note fandom. 3 Thank you so much for writing it.

Ok..this kinda made me a bit depressed...T.T You just made me sympathize Sayu more than ever now..! That was so sad that Sayu and Mello only manage to spend such a small amount time together..* sob*I love this story! Good job! *sniff sniff*

I absolutely loved this story. Maybe it's because I am a complete sap for these..."romance" stories if you would call it. I like it becuase it's just so in character; especially the narrative of Near. He is so emotionless most authors rely on cliches but you have rebounded against that and it is just PERFECT. I hope you keep on writing- you have bloody talent! Thanks for making my day : )
The Flying Fish 3/17/10 . chapter 3
Really good fic.
Queen of Dreaming 12/11/09 . chapter 3
Well.

I can say only that I am left essentially wordless (not that the growing length of this review leads to that impression, but I just sat here and stared for a moment at the end of this), and not in a bad way.

...and now you've got me thinking halfway in (my imitation of) Near's voice. That is, although slightly irritating, impressive on your part.

I don't know if I'll read this again, but I'm glad I read it this time, if that makes any sense...and it's not that I didn't like it, but that... it's hard to explain. All I can say is that you definitely succeeded in creating the tone of a requiem, and having Near narrate was a stroke of genius. I know you say you aren't happy with the last chapter, but I like it as it is. All I can say is: wonderful.

This was beautiful and melancholic and left me wanting more. I hope you'll do something with this, because this is the kind of love-story I want.
CYLi 9/29/09 . chapter 3
oh, wow.

I discovered this fanfic through here: /FanficRecs/DeathNote. I really like this story. Near's narration style is brought down to a tee-analytical, detached, but human and sympathetic, just how I like it.

I enjoyed all three chapters. Hm, I do think you should leave this story as it is and not make another one based on this storyline. It leaves in alluring mysteries and lets readers fill in the blanks with their own imagination. You know what I mean? Kind of like "Spirited Away".

Love your writing, by the way. Need to learn more volcabularies :)
