This is beautiful. Plainly beautiful. Everything is so subtle and subdued, and at the same time, the characters' reactions are so lifelike and telling that one can just read their emotions through the words without you - the author - having to tell us explicitely how they feel. The end result is a moving, thougtful, not the slightest bit mawkish story, with no displaying of pathos but rather proper tribute - to friendship, to love, to life, and so much more.
Thank you for this work of art. :-)

wow. This was just so well written that I honestly don't know what to say. I've slipped into a feeling of sadness right now. The ending was really cute and just perfect. Extraordinary job!

How in hell did I miss this amazing piece of work. I can't really say it was wonderful because that isn't the feelings it invoked. It was so beautifully written Dani and if your aim was to have all your readers weeping bucketloads over their keyboard then your aim has been achieved.

I still don't know what he died from but I got the impression it wasn't something sudden, that he'd been expecting it?

Great work Dani

I also read this before. Well, not really. More like, I was looking through the ZAANGELS website for the monthly writing competitions - which reminds me, I should go check it out again today xD - and I found your entry. I love sad stories, really, because getting emotional is not a bad thing in my opinion. And sometimes, you just need to cry. So, I clicked on the link, read about a fifth of this story, and then closed it. I think I got bored after a while, because some of your statements got a bit repetitive, and while I guess you're trying to impress upon the reader the severity and extent of the pain, it kind of gets boring. No offense. I mean, I've written really repetitive fics before, and they suck. I don't think yours should suck though, even though I couldn't bring myself to read the rest of the story. This is kind of storytypical, but the number of reviews usually, while not necessarily, indicate the ranking of the story, and how good it is. Anyways, good try. I think that you should use the passion you have for writing to gear you to express that enthusiasm in the fics itself. But, good try. :D

Gabriella’s eyes were floating around the room, taking in the people who surrounded her; the people who had been so instrumental within her final years of high school; the people who had formed an integral part in defining who Gabriella had become as a person. It was the first time the nine of them had been in a single room since just after graduation, senior year.

--

That was my favorite line of the entire oneshot, which was amazing all-around, because of the beautiful illustration. The word 'instrumental' is so powerful there, because it does an incredible job of describing how your friends play into your lives.

I adored this. I cannot fathom your writing ability, it is tremendous. The TG was perfect, their dynamic just wonderful. I see how they fall into the same rhythm again, so easily, after nine months. You did a certainly wonderful job.

I'm curious to know about the cause of death, which you definitely alluded to but never said outright? Perhaps that is the underlying beauty of the story: it is up to the reader how something so tragic like losing a best friend is even possible.

Lastly, I loved the theme "redefining pain". It's remarkable how true that is; everything seems so small after the death of someone close.

Expect more reviews from me later. :) Your other stories look especially delectable. Great work!

Hi - brand new to fanfic but had to leave a comment on this one. This was an engaging and well written story. I love how the story keeps you in the dark about what the tragedy really is then slowly and painfully reveals it later. I also like the insight and understanding that Troy and Gabriella have of their own emotions, their friends and their own relationship. Nice integration of the relationship aspect and the tragedy of the death (speaking of which, while we don't know explicitly what happened, it's so well done that we get to just kinda "know" what happened). I enjoy stories that actually let you use your imagination rather than simply stating what's going to happen next. Well done.

Again, first time reviewer so not too familiar with how I'm supposed to do this so forgive me if I don't follow a format.

Also really enjoying your other work. Love the fact that I don't have to cringe at a spelling/grammar error since there are so very very very few.
