ToonyTwilight 4/2/13 . chapter 43This was a really great story! |
cora-stacy 3/10/13 . chapter 43I loved this! So detailed and even though it's AU it's totally plausible in universe as well :) can't wait to devour the rest of the series! |
Yuki Tate 2/22/13 . chapter 43 I just want to say that this is the most brilliant fanfiction I've ever read in my life. It is so beautiful and well-written. The slow bring up of Jack and Ianto's relationship was quite powerful and overwhelming at some points. Your story was one that actually made me have sympathy and empathy for the characters which is something that doesn't happen often to me in fanfictions. You also reminded me of myself and my life right now throughout this whole story. This is now my all-time favorite fanfiction, and thank you so much for writing this lovely story. |
silver cat 777 2/6/13 . chapter 43That was wonderful. Thank you for writing it. |
StarKayak 11/21/12 . chapter 32I laughed so hard at the birds and bees conversation:):):):) |
DarqueQueen7 10/12/12 . chapter 43Read this story from begining to end in one day...and I've one word for it: Masterpiece! Made me laugh like a loon & cry like a little giirl. And it also helped to continue my insomnia, so I'm off to La-La Land at 6:30am! But it was a great story and I can't wait to read the next one in this series. D. |
StarKayak 9/26/12 . chapter 43This was so well done. Believable character development and innovative plot. It was like getting a new season of Torchwood. Wonderful. |
Bloodsong 13T 9/12/12 . chapter 43another great, solid story, blu. with a deeply satisfying ending. (that isn't even an END, because i look forward now to the series!) i have to admit, i am amazed at how well you handled jack's transformation. i didn't expect him to, you know, do a 'reset button' thing, so i wasn't sure how similar he'd be to his usual personality, without it seeming to be too abrupt or forced. but just wow! you did an amazing job. oh, and i like him better this way. (truth be told, though i like canon-jack as a character, i don't really like him much as a person.) |
Bloodsong 13T 9/12/12 . chapter 28up to chapter 28 now, still enjoying the story immensely. i like how solid and detailed it is. the story and the characters really live inside your mind, i can tell. i also like the respect you give to your 'bit-player' characters, and i'm really glad gage didn't get bumped off or left behind, when he easily could have been. truly outstanding! |
Bloodsong 13T 9/11/12 . chapter 5this was a surprise... reading the synopsis, i thought it would be jack blowing them off in 1899 and running around doing what he wanted. this works, though :) enjoying it, so far! |
sd4ianto 8/22/12 . chapter 1Just finding out how to put them as favorite stories. |
JantoFan 8/19/12 . chapter 43 This whole story is so beautiful, and now I'm crying, oh my god Thank you so much for posting this. (My headcanon for the far future of this fic is that Ianto spends a lot of time with the small piece of coral, pouring out his heart and soul to it, letting it feel his love for Jack... and then, when Jack's TARDIS is all grown up, it turns out that the TARDIS has absorbed Ianto's consciousness and soul in a way, and the two of them travel the stars together for the rest of eternity I'll go bury my face in a pillow and squee and cry and go read the rest of your fics in this 'verse now, eh) |
Marcus S. Lazarus 5/16/12 . chapter 43VERY interesting idea, I’ll give you that. The idea of Torchwood keeping Jack locked up like that certainly fit what we saw of them in the ‘old days’- considering that they considered the Doctor a threat when he’s never done anything to deliberately harm Earth (Although some might argue that his presence on Earth at least ensured that the Master would keep coming here, even if other aliens would have probably come whatever), they’d DEFINITELY consider a man who can’t die an ‘X-Factor’ that would have to be controlled-, and Ianto’s reaction to his new ‘job’ gave us an immediate look at the possible chain of events that might lead Jack back to who he was rather than what he’s become. The ‘healing process’ might be slow even after Ianto starts trying to treat ‘Joe’ as a person rather than a thing, but a hundred years of abuse aren’t exactly going to be something that you can recover from overnight, and the addition of Sarah Jane to help them certainly works, to say nothing of the rather surprising-yet-touching addition of Jackie’s maternal influence. The Doctor’s reaction to Jackie’s discovery of what he did to Jack certainly works- point to you for at least acknowledging that the Doctor’s near-imminent regeneration contributed to his ‘decision’ to abandon Jack; I’ve read a few writers who just condemn what the Doctor did and leave it at that without considering the circumstances under which the Doctor left-, and the subsequent infiltration of Torchwood One was very well-handled, particularly your new take on the Battle of Canary Wharf (Although I still don’t entirely get why Jackie went to the other side of the dimensional rift without Rose; abandoning her world made sense when she thought that her daughter was going with her, but it makes less sense when Rose is more definitely staying here). Still, subsequent developments as the new TARDIS crew work on getting Jack back to some kind of mental stability were very well-written, the restoration of his memory being naturally complicated by the sheer scale of what is in his head at the time (Even if I think that it should actually be slightly less than a hundred years since Jack wouldn’t exactly have been processing much while he was imprisoned by Torchwood), to say nothing of the moment when the Doctor and Ianto witness Jack’s captivity and the reason why they had to be there without knowing why at first. All in all, an interesting AU with some well-written moments of character development- particularly your use of the Brigadier and the Queen to get Jack appointed as head of Torchwood-; keep up the great work! |
DarkwingDuckie 4/18/12 . chapter 43Couldn't even bein to tell you just how many times I've cried reading this story. It is beautiful and horrific at the same time with an amazing ending. I think I went through every emotion immaginable at least once. Love it! |
