Poor, pathetic Toby. You got him down perfectly.

You know why this story works so well? Because they will never be together. But it doesn't abate his crush for her at all. In fact, knowing Toby, and think he enjoys wallowing in this unrequited love. And you capture that sentiment in the little details, like you always do. I was a little hesitant to read this story, I was a little doubtful about the premise, but it was a nice vehicle to explore Pam and Toby.

Good job.

As a side note, I LOVE Pam and Jim's security in their relationship. It is so refreshing.

Amazingly done. I love your portrayal of Toby, and he's the kind of character that it must be really hard to get his voice just right-which you did. The piece as a whole just nailed the emotional level, too; I finished it wanting to cry. The most tragic thing about it is that, even though you want to give Toby a chance with her, at the same time Jim is perfect for her. Really well done.

This was cute. The Toby POV seemed very in-character. And gotta love the Austen...

Aw, poor Toby. Anyway, I loved the story. It was cute and sad and I really enjoyed getting to see Toby's side, as well as more things on the Finer Things Club. The beginning was just perfect. "Austen's sort of inevitable". How true, you know?

Oh, Pam and Toby... I do think they would have worked out together, even though I AM a big fan of Jim and Pam together. Maybe because I don't believe in One True Love...she could have been happy with either. But Toby would have needed to become a bit more assertive first.

terrific connection between Toby and Colonel Brandon, and loved the whole way the other Austen novels were dispatched- the conversation seemed very real, very natural, and, well, poor Toby. never really gone for Colonel Brandon myself... (and i know you're supposed to... but no. i kinda do like Willoughby. possibly the most sympathetic of Austen's jerk-characters...) but great characterization, dialogue, imagery, everything, especially the great Office-style details- Kevin's snickering while getting a Snickers or something, Michael's reaction to toby holding a teddy- :D really, you nail the spirit of the show- thanks for the read!

I loved this. I almost never get to see Toby's point of view. You're a really talented writer.
