This one left me wanting for more. Daniel's investigations as an ascended being, Jack and Sam's unspoken feelings, even Teal'c's teasing of his friends were very entertaining. Looking forward to the next chapter.

ooh, great chapter! tied up lots of loose ends for the episode, started the Anubis-superweapon arc (good tying Herak into it) and plenty of Sam/Jack stuff. Funny Teal'c moments too. I liked the little Citizen Joe mention also.

I'm sure there are people who would label parts of this "soap opera", particularly the bit with SJ hiding their feelings and thinking they're the only one. *shrugs* Doesn't bother me.

I haven't commented on any of your stuff for awhile (it almost goes without saying that it'll rock), so I figured I'd post and say that, of course, this chapter was awesome (and as ever I'm grateful to have you writing awesome fanfic), and am I ever looking forward to your next two chapters (and, you know, the ones after too, but these two especially)! :D

Thanks so much! I enjoyed this chapter. It was great to see Jack and Sam together alone enjoying each others company even if they had "moved on". I liked the way you weaved a back story for Jack at the Vietnam Memorial. So fitting! The start of the story was so true to Jack's voice and his dislike of Kinsey. The man is such a creep! Again, thanks so much for taking the time to share your stories.

Yet another excellent tag! I really liked the Jack/Barret conversation, and the fact that Jack noticed that Sam pretty much ignored Barret! And the dinner and walk was a nice touch. And Morgan is back, and starting to lead Daniel to the future! Great touch!

As much as I respected their decision to keep their relationship purely professional, I always wondered if they had a moment of weakness. I never got how they could go through everything they did and not reach a breaking point, have a break down, and then get back up and keep going. It happens to best of people, why not them. Their emotional fortitude, while admirable, just isn't realistic.

As always, nicely done. You write frustration well. I really wanted to just reach out and bang their heads together and have them at least acknowledge something was still there...openly. Even if it was just a hand squeeze. They know each other like the back of their hands, so to speak, and they can't get it through their thick heads that the other still has feelings for them. Ugh!!

Just rereading your TAG for The Fifth Man. There is an minor error, but it has been bothering me; so I thought I would let you know.
When Jack is speaking to General Hammond about the political situation, the General says: "We’re almost half way through the President’s second term in office, Jack. You and I both know it’s not likely he’s going to get another one."
In fact the Twenty-Second Amendment to the US Constitution limits the President to two terms in office. Therefore, it's not just unlikely that he would get another term; it is impossible.

Excellent writing. Liked the chat between Hammond and Jacob and Jack's thoughts at the end. Looking forward to the next chapter.
