I'm lovely this series of stories, but I'm a little mystified as to why Hawke thinks that Cait left? I would have thought that she was taken, because I really can't see her leaving Hawke, and I definitely can't see her leaving Chance when Hawke's about to go on a mission. I'm going to keep reading and see what turns up, but it's rather disturbing to me that Hawke wouldn't even think that Cait might have been taken, rather than disappearing of her own free will.

Always found it way too suspicious that Caitlin would leave Chance. Just never sat right.

and btw, Army uniforms carry the last name of the soldier. It would just say HAWKE. The rank is insignia, not spelled out: one bar for a lieutenant (one color for 2nd Lt, a diff one for 1st Lt), two bars for a captain, oak leaves for Major & Lt. Colonel but diff colors, etc.

Wasn't expecting that. Could almost see him leaving Chance with Michael (yeah, that would've been interesting) but not that. Archangel wasn't the only one surprised.

Nice give and take between Hawke and Dom about when String and Saint John came to live with him. You can kinda picture it. And no, you're right, Dom would've never complained or wished it any other way.

Like the scene between Hawke and Chance where he tells him, couldn't you have inheirited something better from me , besides my dreams. Between him, Chance and the cello, it was a sweet one.
