Very cute and deep. And "Iris" has always been one of my favorite songs. I got into the Goo Goo Dolls when my mother was pregnant with my little brother and she was suffering because of problems with my dad. She always listened to that song to help her cope. At that time, I just thought she liked the song. But now I remember her rubbing her belly and being completely silent while she listened to it.

I do think Near is very out of character, but that's not an insult. Personally, I think he should have exhibited more emotion. He was more lifeless than L was. That always bothered me. It was like he was trying to prove that emotion was what brought L to his downfall. He even called L a "loser". But now, I don't think too badly of him.

I'm waiting for this one author to update this Near/Matt fic I like. So, I was attracted to this story by the pairing. Anyway, good job.
