I felt so... strange when I read that Ryou had no regrets of killing the guy and was so strong about it. It made me feel, I dunno how to explain it really... but it was a good-ish feeling. Something only you could draw out! ;]

*laugh* That's just like Ryou! I really like how you ended the fic. Eventhough it's obvious what happened, there is a kind of harshness by coming out-right and saying it. You know what I mean? Anyway, nice work on your fic! ... Don't you think it's odd that in most of our AUs, someone dies, or is supposed to die?

That was quick! I didn't think you'd get it up that soon.

First of all, it flowed very well for an AU with a word limit, though the ending seemed a little rushed, but that's probably due to running out of words to write. I also liked the use of first person. I'm so used to you writing in third person, that the change was nice and it worked very well.

It was obvious what happened at the end, but it happened so fast I didn't really feel anything. However, I did like the way it finished. In some twisted way, to me it seemed better that she did die in the end. It brought more to the story - more what, I'm not sure, but it's definitely a good thing.

Though it seems that these AUs always seem to end with a person dead. It's the fourth one, I think.

Are you sure you didn't mean to set this in 1953 instead of 1853? Last time I checked, there weren't many car accidents in the mid-nineteenth century, and altogether this seemed more like the twentieth century than a steampunk (meaning technologically advanced) nineteenth.

That was the only (possible) error I found, but I think this fic lost something by being in 1st person instead of 3rd. I would have liked to see a flashback of Ryou's crime instead of just a fairly (though understandably) vague description. Also, I don't think any of the rest of it would have been hurt by a 3rd-person PoV.

Also, I've got mixed feelings about the ending. On the one hand, it was pretty predictable, what with the title and the repeated discussion of suicide. On the other, you handled Ryou's death sentence PERFECTLY. Hinting rather than flat-out telling us really accentuates his tragedy, if not hers.

Speaking of your Ryou, DAYUM. I sort of want to have his children. That's how much I adore the way you characterized him. You know how I repeatedly insisted on your forum that he's a suave bastard? You captured that perfectly. He's stoic and proud and just completely amazing.

Wow, that was a tragedy, all right. But I liked it; I guess I can picture Ryou avenging his parents like that, but it was still depressing.
I didn't spot any errors, but I wasn't really looking for any...
