2009-01-21 . chapter 4
This. Is. Amazing.

Normally, I'm not a huge Lola/Chase fan, or into the Zoey/Chase/Lola triangles. In fact, I tend to steer clear of Zoey and Chase altogether, because I just don't care. I prefer Lola with Logan, or Vince. And then, I happened upon this gem.

I lovelovelove this story. You seriously don't even understand. It is really SO well written, and I get so into it. I understand all sides of the equation (although I am still curious as to Chase's feelings). I literally cannot wait for the next update. And I'll be terribly sad when it's done.

BUT, you said -- nearly insisted -- that I could become emotionally attached. I believed you and though I read it in one sitting, I AM emotionally attached. And also terrified that I won't get an ending.

I can see that your last update was the beginning of December. It's not really that bad, but I don't know your routine and I guess I'm just a little paranoid. Prove me wrong, please!
I'm soo pumped for the last installment.

This was the best written chapter yet! You have such amazing talent. I would have NEVER thought to describe the sun rising the way that you did. It was simply beautiful.

Now, on to the content. I was very glad that you showcased Rebecca as a real person rather than a 2-dimensional character. I've always had a soft spot for her and I really enjoyed/liked your portrayal of her.

Wow. Zoey. What amazing complexity of emotions... Such depth to emotions was never seen on the show yet you manage to write the characters as feeling them and still be completely in-character.

I love the last Zoey/Lola scene (and the subtle mention of how Quinn's smile reminded Zoey of Logan...they're obviously spending a lot of time together!). It was heart-warming. Zoey has really grown up over the span of a year.

Now, I can't wait for the next update! And sorry if this review makes little or no sense. I'm trying to be coherent but my brain is mush.

2008-12-03 . chapter 4
In the beginning, I thought Zoey was going to go right back to her old ways. I'm glad she had the talk with Rebecca, though. Some of her insight seemed to open Zoey's eyes in a way, and I think it really helped her sort some things out.

I was a little shocked Rebecca chose to open up to Zoey, but maybe she just needed someone to vent to. I was definitely taken aback when she admitted that she was in love with her English teacher. I found it interesting that both of her parents are psychiatrists. She always seemed like a very emotional person to me. I liked the advice she gave Zoey relating to her article.

The way you write Zoey and Chase makes me actually want to root for them over Chase and Lola in some sweet, strange way. They just seem so in and out love, and that's something that doesn't come along very often. They seem like they really do care for each other deeply, and I appreciate that. I sort of wished she had kissed him...

It was also interesting how you made the kids in costumes attacking Lola seem funny and traumatic all at once. I do recall that episode, something about a balloon and blackmailing.

I'm happy Zoey went to help Lola out and they got to talking. She really stepped up and became a friend again. I'm happy the topic of Chase came up, and Zoey finally gave her “approval.” I'm happy that Zoey didn't let Lola beat herself up any longer. She really showed maturation when she tackled the situation head on. It was especially sweet when Lola shared all the special things she loved about Chase. The feet thing was a little odd, yet strangely romantic.

…That doesn’t mean we are going to grow apart… It just means we won’t be growing together.”

That line really touched me. For someone to be able to say that about someone they love so much is truly touching. I'm glad that Zoey thinks Lola is a good match for Chase. Lola seems rather pleased, too.

Looks like Zoey's getting her life back; that's nice. I can't believe there's only one more chapter left. :'( All of my favorite Zoey 101 stories are coming to a close…no!

Can't wait for the grand finale!

OH. MY. GOD.
This was an exceptionally clean and well-written chapter! My eyes were glued to the computer screen the whole time!

It was strange hearing advice from Rebecca, but it kind of made sense. It's good to know that there's a good, compassionate side to her.

Even though my Choey love is fading, I loved the sprinkler scene to bits :)

But most importantly, I'm glad Zoey and Lola finally talked and Zoey is putting her best friend before herself.

Beautiful!

I wasn't expecting a scene like that between Chase and Lola in this chapter...but there it was, making me fall in love with Chola all over again. Thanks Song! Anyway, I love how this is, basically, a Chola love story told from Zoey's perspective. And I love how you can make me love a character like Zoey, who I normally do not like. Great update! And...more soon, I hope.

Oh, in response to your pm, I've been around. Not here or at tvcom. I've been into Smallville as of late but I have a ton of ideas for Chola fics...just not enough time to write/finish them. Hopefully, I'll write a good, long oneshot over Christmas break. Actually, I had an idea for a Christmas Chola story (an expansion of a story I already wrote). I'm rambling now. How is all with you?

An extremely well-written, enjoyable chapter, Song! Are you planning to continue on, or is it ending right there? Either way, a spectacular ending to the story/chapter!

2008-11-11 . chapter 3
So much action! I loved it! :)

Okay, so Zoey was upset in the beginning (naturally) and that was okay. Quinn and Lola were there for her, comforting her, and trying to make her feel better. For some reason, I think Zoey should have felt a little guiltier about her lack of social time, especially when Quinn and Lola put aside so much time for her. Maybe she's just too stressed.

I chuckled at Logan's comment about Zoey “saving the world or whatever”. It's so true, and I can just hear those words coming out of his mouth. I'm happy Lola went to the theater with Chase, but I think she really needs to take some time to clear her head. Not through distancing herself from her friends, but just by attempting to sort out all her emotions.

When Zoey was listening to the conversation the whole time, I thought she was going to come out more upset, but she realized a lot of things. Like at junior prom when Lola and Chase hugged. At this point, I think Zoey has sort of lost touch. She's in so far that she's wondering how a tennis player divides her social and professional lives evenly. At least she's thinking about it, though.

Zoey and Vince's conversation seemed a little funny when I pictured it in my head. Sadly, Vince only wants to get the girl. But this did lead to Zoey sort of confronting Lola. I'm happy that Lola got the message, but as an actress, I'm not sure she would have made it so obvious that she understood. I liked the analogy with her guiltiness and being a prisoner. That was another comedic moment.

I really do think Chase and Lola have feelings for each other. Chase is just trying to keep Zoey in his life through friendship, but I think it's harder than he thought it would be. Lola is only holding back because of Zoey, but I have a feeling she's not going to want to talk about it. She probably just wants to push Chase away so Zoey will be happy. I'm happy that Zoey's aware. Maybe that way she'll feel like straightening things out with her friend.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Oh my gosh, that whole library scene has my mind reeling. =-o
And Lola's final words were so meaningful, WOW!

I'm sorry I didn't review your last chapter! I thought I did, I feel sure I did. I must not have actually submitted it or something, *sighs*. But anyway, your story so far has really given my brain a work-out. Usually it's only a Quogan-centric story that keeps me fascinated (I'm in way too deep with them, LoL!), but the way you write this just, seriously...gives my brain a work-out! I think I'm rather hooked!

I didn't really see any grammatical errors, but don't trust my judgment as for being a beta-reader. I'm tired and I need to eat something as well. LoL!

The next update...so looking forward to it!

Oh Song!
Although my love for Choey is empty these days, I felt so bad for both of them.
But then again, you ended the relationship how it should have ended: Zoey being too caught up with her schedule to care about Chase. I'm so glad Chase finally says how he feels...he never does that around her, and even through all the sadness, it was kind of a delight to finally hear him get mad as Zoey.
Bravo :)

Again, I love how you divided the parts of the story into sections. It's a really nice touch.

That was a very emotional breakup for Chase and Zoey, and no matter how much I'm not a huge fan of their relationship, I just had to feel sorry for the both of them. They were both very much in character, though. With this being the most tragic breakup for Chase and Zoey that I've read, I'd have to say it tops the list on believability. I can really picture Chase being brutally honest, especially when he's come to such a conclusion. I still felt for Zoey because she just didn't see it coming. I hope they can sort things out and remain friends.

That was simply beautiful...beautiful and sad. I actually felt bad for Zoey...a little. The best part about your story is how it examines a question we use so often without really thinking about it's deeper implications. Zoey is starting to view the question a little differently, as more than just an ordinary question (at least that's my take) - it's a question that is starting to define her life. I'm looking forward to the next chapter, curious as to how her relationship with her friends, specifically Chase and Lola, will transform after this cathartic end scene.

2008-10-15 . chapter 1
Julie told me I just had to check this out. And boy am I glad I did!

I was slightly intrigued by this story's summary, but I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy it because it's Zoey-centric. I'm happy I finally got around to reading it, though. Zoey does have some nice qualities, and the way you wrote her...is just incredibly superb and believable. From her decision to take the job on the school newspaper staff, being swamped with work, and then finally obtaining some free time to spend with Chase, I truly felt all of her emotions. I really admire that kind of writing.

How you included the other characters, major and minor, was great, too. I can already see a Zoey/Chase/Lola triangle forming, and then we have Quinn/Logan and Micheal/Lisa. Chase is his usual self, quirky yet irresistable. His character was spot on, especially when he convinced Lola to attend the dance with him. Lola, my favorite character, was written well, too. So far she seems to be confused about her feelings for Chase and how exactly it will affect her friendship with Zoey. I hope she can work that out in future chapters.

I also love how you divided the inaugural chapter into parts, and the amazing titles you gave them. They all involved the word “mind” and just by pieceing them all together you can sense the transition and flow this chapter takes.

Now I am very excited for future chapters. I think you are one of the more talented writers in this fandom. Nice plot, characterization, great editing, all around wonderful story. Since I know that it will be updated regularly, this story is now one of my favorites!

Off to read chapter two!

Wow. This is great! I usually only read Quinn/Logan stories (because they're the only reason I watch the show), but this one sounded so intruiging and I'm so, so glad I decided to read it. It's so hard to find really good stories on here, and this one was fantastic. Such emotion...poor Zoey. I'm dying to know what happens next.
