The Slingshot Effect 2008-10-07 . chapter 1*Gasps* Oh my god...*Moved to tears*
This, I must say, is one of the best, most disturbingly true oneshots that I've ever read, especially amongst the oneshots based around the more recent manga chapters. Amazing...
I think that you captured Itachi's spirit and emotions perfectly, and you did it so well that I actually thought you were just writing what had happened in the canon. That's how ingenious this oneshot is.
And the last part, where Madara tells Itachi that the cloak matches his eyes, was eerie. Quite. In a way, yes, the cloak DOES match Itachi's Sharingan eyes--especially the blood-red hue. It's almost horrifying...*shudders*
Poor Sasuke...the part where Itachi flung him away and started to lie was the saddest, most heartbreaking moment in the entire oneshot. Not the moment Itachi reflects back on his painful decision, not the brief exchange between him and Madara, but the lie. THAT, in my opinion, is incomparable in its tragedy and pathos. (That reminds me, the line that goes "twisted his face into a twisted grin" sounds a tad redundant to me. I think that it should be changed to "twisted his face into a deranged smile" to make it ring a little more forcefully. I mean, I can just imagine the grin on Itachi's face--he looks more than "slightly" unhinged, if you know what I mean. But it's just my opinion, and you're the author, so if you feel that there's nothing wrong, feel free to disregard my nitpick. Besides, the line actually makes more sense when you read it a few more times. ^^)
Anyway, I'm on my way to read the latest chapter of Konoha's Yellow Flash Really Hates Paperwork, so I'll see you again fairly soon!

P.S. You're lucky I'm not in a bad mood, because if I was, I would've started crying while reading Way of the Weasel. That's just how much of a potential tearjerker it is. |
Vanya Starwind 2008-10-07 . chapter 1No, not anger at your Itachi. You didn't cover the one spot in the manga I wanted covered, but it's okay. Itachi was the bad guy, now he's just messed up. It's typical, but good. I enjoyed it, and thank you. |
