'her hair a golden halo around her brilliant blue eyes' - Hey, I notice you write for a few different fandoms. Is it possible that you wrote this for another one, because Melina Kanakaredes' hair is brunette and her eyes are green.

Very, very sad, but beautifuly written. This was a wonderful line, 'They exist in separate worlds now.' I also thought the anonymity of the man adds to the focus on who has been lost.
