TukeIsHappilyNotWorking 7/20/10 . chapter 13First, this story is brilliant. Amazing. I love all the action and adventure, as well as the strong friendship between Arthur and Merlin (and all the other characters!). Gwen really would exhaust herself trying to save Gaius, Morgana really would lead the defense, and Arthur really would freak out like that if he thought he had done magic. :) And, secondly (I guess just FYI), cauterization would work(ish) for bleeding from a stump or bleeding from an ulcer, but for a penetrating stab wound, it'd be better to do a laparotomy to sew up any punctured intestines (reduce the effects of septic or hemorrhagic shock)... (unless a major blood vessel in the spleen or liver had been ruptured, it'd probably be best to leave those organs alone to try to fix themselves). Gaius would probably know of some type of antibiotic. Hopefully. And Merlin would probably really use a blood transfusion, but since these are the days before blood typing, that procedure would be a crapshoot-either working well or really really really badly. Probably not worth the risk. But anyhoo... sorry for the medical tangent. I've been hanging around doctors too much. :) Time to get back to the story before I die of anticipation. |
saoirse09 6/8/10 . chapter 15Absolutely, totally, and completely marvelous! All the twists and turns had me gasping every other second and praying for it to come out right (even though I knew you wouldn't kill any of them... you're just that good at casting doubt in there as to whether they'll survive). I really liked the end, too. At first, I kind of wished there would have been some banter between Merlin and Arthur at the end, to lighten things up a little, but then I realized that your ending works the best because, well, the whole "Arthur needs to forgive himself" thing is serious and shouldn't be laughed off. And after reflecting about that, I realized I simply love the subtle way you have of indicating that Arthur has forgiven himself. Marvelous job. :) Saoirse |
