Ya know...I think Mal being fully cognizant of his emotional problems actually makes things worse for him and others, since it's not a case of ignorance but of...addiction? So much stuff has happened to Mal where things he held dear were torn away that his opposition of the Alliance in any way he can has become the only stabilizing factor he has. And he just can't let the fix go, can he?

Sad... A good look into Mal, although really short. :( Have you thought about linking your oneshots into a longer fic?
