I'll confess to loving these quiet little moments in writing where you get to interact with characters that you might not have time to in the rush of storyline. There's something super genuine and wonderful in your dialogue and the ending makes me smile and ache all at once. Thanks for this!

Short and sweet, I suppose is the best I can say. This entire piece was thoughtful and quiet and slow, but hardly boring. I like the idea of Speed haunting the tracks with milk under the seat; since he has no other guaranteed method of contacting R(ac)e(r) X--except through the CIB, perhaps, though they surely have better things to do than play messenger--he had to come up with something else, and your idea was more than plausible.

Oh, I love this. Nice use of the milk, and the last line was wonderful--and it makes so much sense that Speed would think to apologize for the incident at the track! I love your dialogue, too.

And excellent job of showing Rex's feelings without ever changing POV. I hope you'll write more Speed Racer, the category needs more authors. Have you read my follow-up to the movie? As you like Rex I think you'd enjoy it.
