It's kind of a cliche...lovers or potential lovers on two sides of a fight...but I think you're managed quite well to convey how things would have been different in all probability had Tru and Jack not been tasking with saving and destroying lives respectively. Cuz really? Tru doesn't really know who is controlling things on her side, so who knows what good or bad has come or will come from her saving a life that maybe should have stayed dead...
