good story

In all honesty, did you read "The Crucible" before writing this? Because this is eerily close to that wonderful piece of literature.

I love this story! Reincarnation has always been something I loved to read about and now it's in the form of a DMC fanfic. 8D I could die happy right now! NO WAIT. I TAKE THAT BACK I NEED TO FINISH THIS FIC FIRST. xD Anyway, I love the historical references. And Dante... cooking? Edible food? That's a pretty hot mental image. xD Thanks for the unintentional (or intentional) fanservce!

The story itself is great, as is your writing.

But... you want an honest review of the historical accuracy? Sorry, but that's where you fall hard. Terms of address (Milady is not appropriate to the place and time), economic details (no such thing as a cattle rancher and no "the town merchent"). Oh, and they didn't have Holy Water either, although a dunking might have fit. You do keep to historical acuracy in using witch as a non-gender specific term though, although I'm not sure if that was intentional. Also, they didn't swear by anything, the Bible or otherwise. Paper was also in short supply and expensive, hardly something you'd waste on simple rough sketches; birch bark was a more usual sketching material. I could go on, but I'd suggest just checking a few books out from the kiddy side of the library. (kids' books are extra handy because they do state the 'obvious' and they cover the basics that you need to know.)

Wow, a thoroughly compelling chapter. The flashbacks were really interesting! There's one little thing I'd like to mention in regards to your narration during the flashbacks. During the first one, you said "camera technologies centuries later". That kind of struck me as out of place. I think it'd make more sense to leave out references of the future since the flashbacks themselves seem to be in their own little time periods, not at all connected to the modern parts of the story outwardly. Not so much as Dante relaying the story to Lady (I hope that made sense. I'm so bad at wording thoughts properly). Anyways, I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

I just got done reading this and...OMG. Love it. Extremely creative idea. I have always speculated myself if Dante was actually immortal to some degree or aged differently. Considering the games don't ever let on about it, you could take that anywhere. And you did!! Awesome.

Your writing is top notch, seriously. I love your attention to details for the time periods. Perfect. The dialog is outstanding - past and present. Ooh, and Dante the artist... that's sweet. I can see that. I always thought of Vergil as more of the musical one...heh

And as always I appreciate the addition of humor here and there.

This is one of those fics that by far I could totally buy as a true origin for Dante/Vergil. Even though this fic is Dante/Lady-centric, I was wondering if you'd throw in or explore Dante's tribulations over his fall out with Vergil. I think in this story it might be kinda fun to tell how it happens. ;)

Again, well done!! I'm all over this one. BTW - I love Dante's personality in this. He has that playful air about him, but not so much he's a dolt (like in most of my fics! LOL). And Lady's reaction to the new found 'truth' is perfect.

Totally keep this one up, plez! Can't wait to read about the rest of Dante's history.

Thank you for a great read! It's been a while since there was anything worthy on this site. And finally! Yep! I liked the way you fit them into those mallet maleficarum times - a perfect period for the twins to be born if you think of it. Kind of survival time that prepares you for the future.
