has always burned me.
I mean, how stupid can you be?
If the people didn't fear and hate him, the enemies of Konoha would target him. Jinchuuriki were already well known to the upper echelons of the shinobi villages. Did the Hokage never stop to think of what would happen if say... Kumo, who already had two jinchuuriki, decided to swipe or out right eliminate Naruto?
Incredibly dumb.
Just as dumb as not revealing his father's name due to concerns of threats to his life from Iwa. Letting the entire world know he's a jinchuuriki was painting just as big a target on the poor kid.

Wow, I really like how this is set up, especially with Orochimaru's students...very good. Now I really want to read more!

That little action from Kyuubi was interesting, but I can't help but wonder if it was for good intentions or bad...? Or perhaps because Iruka saved Naruto, and Kyuubi was also saved since he would have died with Naruto, so in a way the fox is thanking him...Okay, now i'm thinking too much into this.

You might want to feature the Canon series senseis (Kakashi, Kurenai as well, even if for breif glimpses, kind of like what you did with Gai. However, I think Asuma would still be like...same age as Kurenai and Kakashi. I beleive you made him a little older than he was supposed to be by about ten years or so, but whatever...this is fanfiction.

Also, a glimpse of a young Itachi and a baby Sasuke would be pretty awesome. Just a thought.

Ah... it was ages since I read a Naruto fanfic, and even longer since I read an Iruka and Naruto familyfic.
This story is really cute, fuzzy and someties heart-breaking. The details like the goggles and the orange clothes are fun and make me laugh. Iruka is a really nice "big brother" and Jiraiya is surprizingly fatherly. I thought he wouldn't agree to taking Naruto in. The Sandaime is also well-written especially in earlier chapters.
Something I'm missing is Kakashi and maybe Rin. They were Minato's student and they seem to be missing.
In this chapter you wrote about Tsunade's fear of blood. I'm pretty sure "hemophilia" means "love of blood", you probably wanted "hemophobia". This is my only constructive criticism.

I continue to be thoroughly impressed with the way you take the Naruto universe and expand upon it while keeping it intact, staying pretty much true to canon while adding details of your own...from Tsunade's leaving the village, to the Sound village's formation, to Orochimaru's manipulation of Anko.
I adore how you set the background for things like Naruto's orange clothes and the goggles that he wears. And I like how you have Jiraiya's unconventional training preparing Iruka in ways that he wouldn't notice. And really...throwing a baby at him? The toad sannin is not a very good caretaker!
You did a great job with using Anko, Mizuki, and Iruka's pov in preparing for the chunin exams and displaying their personalities while forshadowing their future.
This story is a lot more in-depth than I expected it to be, and you have me very eager to read more! ^^ If this is Naruto's last happy Christmas for a few years to come, then I guess somehow Iruka's not really going to be as involved in Naruto's upbring as he has been lately, is he?
