A Silence in Winter 2008-11-12 . chapter 1Aw, Nami! D: She always seems to get the short end of the stick. No matter what I feel like other people take the spotlight and she gets whatever dregs are left over. this is true for love, appreciation, kindness, and (in some cases) even EXISTENCE! She is kind of a washed up version of Sora and Kairi, unfortunately. ): Aw...
First off, I love "strait-laced idiosyncrasies" BECAUSE IT JUST SOUNDS BRILLIANT! At first glance it seemed a little contradictory but it reminds us that Namine is such a unique little buddy in the Organization. Her personality is rather vibrant when compared to the others, even Roxas. While he's cold and dejected, she seems very much optimistic and rarely burdened by her sorrows.
Although she has her moments. ): I've always felt Namine is good at suppressing herself and doing things for the good of others, as opposed to Axel who is extremely selfish.
But it makes sense that they would find affinities.
I was actually quite frustrated with Axel in this fic. =/ He was just, so, well, AXEL! His emotions seemed to be centered around some ulterior object (Roxas, I'm assuming) rather than Namine and he punished her for wanting to display her own emotions and especially rebuking his.
But he wants her to accept his feelings.
WTF Axel?! D:
I'm thinking that he was seeing something reflexive in Namine. Like Roxas. :D And was upset when she chose to have her own identity. As if it was somehow a sin to be a person.
But really, for them, it is.
Yet, he seems to be trying to find himself as an individual...
“You cannot make my eyes seem like somebody else’s in yours,” - Plus your earlier hint and Axel's lavish compliments that were a little suggestive made me think this. The comment about searching eyes was also an indicator. Roxas was very lost when he went looking for his purpose. Although that makes me wonder if Namine knows hers, or at least feels like she does.
I've been skimming over as I'm writing this review and I simply can NOT get over the brilliance of this lovely piece. I don't believe I've mentioned it yet but it just took me. Angie, you've got this particular talent to entertain. It's apparent in your humorous stories such as YDCF and Scatterbrain Babies. You know how to make us laugh.
You also know how to tug on our heart strings. D: There is this ability living inside of you that can evoke such powerful emotions. What you put on paper is so real and heartfelt.
...Even when it revolves around characters without hearts. There was a certain yearning, especially on Axel's part. I'll reiterate and say I thought it was extremely unfair that he punished Namine for trying to feel while he totally dominated. Even though Roxas is never actually mentioned, he's that elephant in the room. Excuse me for relating him to an /elephant/ of all things, but his role in this story is a little cattywampus.
Poor Namine. If Axel could man up then maybe he could put those feelings where they belong.
I'm looking at you, Roxas.
The last line really hit me.
“No, I don’t think you do. There’s nothing real to believe.” - It made sense, because there really isn't anything at all for a Nobody. ): Aw...
Namine needs hugs. Dx
MOAR AWESOME! It's so wonderful to see you writing again! =D

Bubblegum Head 2008-11-12 . chapter 1Beautiful as always dearest.
Your stories always tend to give me goosebumps really |
LadeeBliss 2008-11-12 . chapter 1You'll have to forgive me. This review won't be very long, as I have a really bad headache and watching the screen is making me feel ill.
Well, where to start? Let's go with the... OMFGITHOUGHTYOUWEREDEAD,HOWCOULDYOUDOTHISTOME?!
Okay, now that that's over with...
What I really enjoyed most about this fic was the fact that you really illustrated the fact that Naminé can't actually /feel/. Which is sad, as even she, who seems the epitome of kindness and calm, can't feel it. I s'pose she can sorta feel a faux resentment, for the fact that she can't feel resentment, if you get what I'm getting at...
(If you don't, don't worry, I'm asleep on my feet, writing this, writing a Religious Studies Manifesto on Nietzsche and revising Maths.)
Back to what I was saying... I like how you make Axel out as the 'good-guy', the guy to be envied for his slippery grasp on 'emotion' as it were. She can't hate him because... well. But, she knows that he'll only go to certain lengths, unlike the other dorks that inhabit the 'fortress of the forgotten and damned' as you so eloquently put it. What I also like, however, is that Naminé /did/ have /some/ emotion, if ya know what I mean. She felt fear, yet she was so sure that she couldn't, wasn't allowed, to feel it. It made it all bittersweet, that the emotions she did feel were so negative, but better than none at all. Well, I'm gonna stop, as the scroll button is going haywire and making my headache worse. I wanna hear from you soon, okay? Or face my wrath. :D
