I've just returned to reading Les Mis fic, and I had to drop you a line and tell you how much I loved this one. The ending was so poignant: "She cried herself to sleep every night. But she was not unhappy." Really, a lovely piece :)

Oh my goodness. I love this. It sums up Valjean's relationship with Cosette perfectly. Thanks for this.

Aaw...this was so sweet. I loved the way you captured private grief. I also liked how you protrayed poor Jean..."He had no taste in clothes. But she loved him." It made me smile.

Very sad and sweet - I loved it. There isn't enough fanfic about Cosette on this site...

I believe just the other day I was lamenting the lack of fic about Cosette and Valjean...

I think you did especially well at capturing the private aspect of Cosette's grief - the fact that she doesn't really have anyone to share it with, since no one else really knew him - plus she would have no portrait and very few physical objects of his to turn to when she wants to mourn. And, well, I don't know what else to say, it's a lovely piece, and I'm very moved.

So sad and beautiful. :( Poor Valjean. Why couldn't he have a little happiness at the end? A few years in peace and silence, and playing with his grandchildren?
