Alyssa Halliwell 2009-06-10 . chapter 1I really liked this, I think this is the first fic I've read with Castiel in it.
I think you did a great job with both characterisations and I particularly liked: "and sat cross-legged on the tile, the position looking oddly graceful on him, made him look like an attentive child." I keep saying that Misha Collins reminds of a little kid sometimes, with his big eyes! lol
Will hopefully get round to reading both Underworld and Talk Me Down sometime |
LivingForTv 2009-05-26 . chapter 1I think you just opened up Castiel's character more to me than the show has:-) Thanks!
"If you are weary, rest. If you are ill, stop. If you stumble, let people catch you. If you fall, let them give you a hand. If your mind is shaken, speak of it, let yourself be heard, and let yourself be consoled."
Loved those lines! |
Port-of-Seas 2009-05-11 . chapter 1I'm going to avoid reading the preview until it's done (or, if it already is, I'll simply go read it)
Lovely story. Usually I shy away from drug abuse stories simply because the character change is too much for me. But this one was not only sympathetic, but very well handled. One of the better fics I've read. Great job! |
tellie 2008-12-15 . chapter 1"porcelain gods" :) A classic, never stops to be fun, if written or said in right context. I am still giggling :P
Well, I can't say I found the drug use OOC. After all, Dean has made some references for drug use along the road, and after he literally went through hell, I definetly don't think it was too questionable. Definetly not after how he and alcohol were interacting... Actually I am hoping there will be more fics about the subject.
Crappy motel bathrooms, substance abuse and angels are a bit clise... But what the hell, it is one of those things one can never get too much, if done properly :D
I could write some praises and really mean them, but since other have already done it, I will just say I agree with them and save myself for more spelling and other mistakes.
btw, I like House too :) Specially when he mocks religions and religios people... Well, lets not go there. It is off-topic, for starters. |
Miyo86 2008-12-04 . chapter 1Absolutely brilliant. I love how you write Castiel- his dialouge is always excellent. I could also go on and on about Dean and his issues and Castiel trying to help while inserting a little bit of faith ; P Great read all around. I'm really excited about Underworld, it sounds awesome! |
Zarz 2008-11-25 . chapter 1This is a really, really great story! I love seeing the interaction between Dean and Castiel, and I can't wait to see any more stories you write with the two of them, whether Underworld or others. Your characterization of him is spot-on from what I've seen so far. I love how he doesn't always give straight answers, but does give some comfort, and it's kind of fun how he'd been the one letting Dean get some sleep all along. I'm also impressed at how you took a premise that I couldn't have seen being realistic in a thousand years and actually made it make sense. Really great work, and I'm looking forward to more! |
Twinchy 2008-11-25 . chapter 1Let me tell you in one word: awesome, brilliant, gorgeous, stellar!
This is such an amazing and moving (master) piece, I'm deeply impressed. Honestly. Not only did your story work exceptinally well from idea to execution, it also portrayed IMHO the best characterization for Castiel I read yet.
The rollercoaster of the conversation with Dean offered believable insights into both "men's" motives, covered a lot of ground about faith and self-worth and never got boring once.
Despite the (as you yourself admitted) questionable drug abuse by the older Winchester, you didn't just have him get his kicks out of it or anthing; you presented a convincing reason for trying to escape that way - at least to his own mind. No wonder, Castiel disaproved, and not only about the pills either.
Because the angel was right after all, this is going to prove fatal and soon at the rate Dean picked up his pace; out of desperation, no doubt.
Lovely idea too that in your story Castiel was the one who sent Dean into deep, dreamless sleep.
The only thing which slightly "bugged" me (okay, that's really too strong a word), would be not getting to know more about the end of the hunt the brothers were on to begin with.
I'm well aware it was meant to present nothing more than the actual scene-setting for the tale you intended to write but I still would have loved to learn what the whole deal with David Calling was about in the end - and if he realized eventually that he hadn't been crazy all along. (No offence, please)
Long story short (if only, hehe): marvelous piece of fanfiction! *bows in awe* |
PhoenixDragonDreamer 2008-11-25 . chapter 1Gorgeous! Yet another keeper!! Gosh how I love your fic! Yet again, you gave me a great tale to read AND food for thought(not to mention a snippet of yet another awesome fic to look forward to!)
Thank you!!
*hugs*

finajk 2008-11-24 . chapter 1Very nice! I'm looking forward to the rest of the story (Underworld). |
MKofGod 2008-11-24 . chapter 1Interesting. I would ask if anyone is 'worthy' to be saved, or even worthy to be used, or does God save us poor wretches out of love because he knows we can never "earn" salvation, or earn the right to be used. Hmm... o.OI think I'm getting all theological again
But I like the comparison between Cas rescuing Dean from literal Hell and then Cas returning to rescue Dean from a more, metephorical Hell. It's very... would Ironic be the right word? Oh well, I'll use that anyway.
Castiel with a sense of humor - you certainly do have an imagination don't you!“Cas,” he tsked, “Correct me if I'm wrong. Did I just,” he paused for mocking effect, “Did I just sense a sense of humor?”
Castiel's lips tightened. Dean couldn't tell, really, but it could have been a grim smile.
“Our Father equips us as the situation demands,” Castiel explained, “As is needed. Around you, I find that it is a preoccupation I can be familiar with.”
“And it dies as quickly as it appeared,” Dean grunted, shoving his fingers back into his open mouth, warbling his words, “How tragic.”
I love Dean's line :D
And this may sound a little wierd, but thanks for posting this. I was feeling all uptight about last weeks episode and all "God's not like that!" Then I read this and I felt better. Not about the episode, but about the angels in the Show in general. So... thanks!
And thanks for posting. |
Tatsumaki-sama 2008-11-23 . chapter 1Oh wow. This is just amazing. Throughout the whole conversation between Dean and Castiel, I was getting all these shivers running down my back. You've portrayed them both so well, especially Cas, who at times can be quite hard to characterize, being the angel that he is. But I loved that Castiel was the one talking to Dean, reassuring him, acting the role of Dean's conscience, even helping Dean sleep. He's just awesome.
//“What of the liquor?” Castiel asked, taking the bottle.
“Do I look like a fricking saint?” Dean said, grinning at him rakishly.
Castiel smiled at him tightly, as in some sort of acquiescence. He did not look surprised or offended.//
Man, did I crack up at this. It was definitely like Dean to say something like that and I liked that Castiel took no offense to it. |
deangirl1 2008-11-23 . chapter 1I can't wait to read the longer version of this. I don't find Dean's turning to drugs OC at all. In fact, when he said at the end of 4.10 that he didn't want to feel anymore, he made my blood run cold. I immediately thought that he could turn to drugs because the booze pretty obviously isn't working...
I love Castiel and what you do with him here. I loved that he was the "secret" cause of Dean's dreamless sleep. Also great choice in title... I also really liked that you had Dean turn to more "conventional" methods for help...
I'm really, really hoping we get to see the complete version of this preview! |
tomash 2008-11-23 . chapter 1Like the sound of 'Talk me Down', hope to see it soon. K. |
weeziewatts 2008-11-22 . chapter 1Thanks for sharing From Perdition. I have no problem with Dean using dudes pyshc drugs. I too enjoy the Dean/Castiel dynamic and their convos on the show and in fiction are some of my favorite scenes. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to read more.
