amazing story...have to come back and read it all...

It's very well-written so far, but I wish it hadn't followed the fanon idea of making the Dursleys more abusive than they are in canon. In the books, Harry's psychology fits very well with the background he's been given, but if you change the background then either you have to change Harry as well - which seems to be what you've chosen to do - or if you have canon Harry then his behaviour no longer makes sense.

The only evidence in the books that Harry was underfed is Dumbledore referring to him as not so well-nourished as he would have liked, but what we actually see is that apart from the day of the big dinner in CoS, and a few incidents when he was being punished, Harry is usually given to eat exactly what the Dursleys eat, but he sometimes leaves the table without finishing because of the stress of the difficult, unwelcoming atmosphere. Even when he was being punished and was sent to his cupboard without food, he simply helped himself to whatever he wanted from the fridge during the night.

Very emotional - excellent job.
I liked Severus standing guard, poised to act if needed, but staying a respectful distance if not; allowing the boy his moment to grieve and find closure.
And hearing Lily in Harry's voice... a nice touch...

*geeks out at you're geeking out* I love it! Personally grief is my favorite to write, cuz I'm evil and threatening reviews amuse me, but I like this little interlude. It is a bit short, but I like it, I could really imagine this all happening and I think that's what makes it cool.

I like this fic a lot! Your style is interesting and pleasing to read! You do Sev's emotions well, and I am enjoying the emerging relationship between these two. I'm scared for both Harry and Severus, because apart from this budding friendship it seems you are following canon events - ouch, that's gonna hurt, Sev finding out Harry must sacrifice himself, and Harry witnessing Sev's death... let's hope you take a deviation in canon somewhere... I don't want to see your SEv die... it was too sad the first time!
