brilliant... as much as i love the star wars movies, there are some inconsistencies. like why does no one ever connect luke to anakin? it hasnt even been 20 years, so people must remember. there's gotta be vids about it, Luke even has his last name!

so yeah, this story is so true, and fits into the movies so nicely... of course Han would know about Anakin! :-)

excellent :)

Almost as if Han grew up following Anakin's exploits - I love it. I really do! You are a brilliant author!!

Great story, it was really touching. I wish that they would have this scene in the movie!

Excellent tone of remembering and of Han's kindness, rough though it is, to his young friend. Off to read the sequel and glad to see this. Love your titles!

Great! As several of the other readers have said you've definitely got the voices of Luke and Han, particularly the latter. The last line was pretty scary, I suspect you're hinting that Anakin was the one to do it as well. Anyway, nice one-shot!

Nice touch. I always thought Han had to know some of the legends of the Hero with no Fear and the Negotiator

interesting idea. I remember reading in the making of Revenge of the Sith book that in an early draft, Han was slated to appear on the Wookiee homeworld. I guess it was eventually decided it would be too coincidental.
The way we know Han in the movies, dry, cynical ... it's interesting to think he might have been a child awestruck and inspired by Jedi heroes. I guess we see a hint of this Han in Return of the Jedi when he hears Luke is now a Jedi Knight. "A Jedi Knight?!" heh.
I like the image of Anakin at the end of the war looking very scary to a child. An image far removed from the more boyish Anakin a mere three years earlier.

Ouch. Yeah, Luke was lucky--no one told him what his dad was REALLY like for a while.

Wow, that's depressing but believable... so believable...

You're good at writing angst...

Oh. This is great, Mathematica. I was just looking around in the "Just In" category, when I stumbled over your story. It was amazing!
The title, actually, made me want to know more and I didn't regret clicking on it. Especially I loved your little inputs in the brackets, like this one:
"(And Luke wonders if, underneath that mercenary exterior, Han once believed too.)"
Your story really reminded me of a piece of bittersweet black chocolate on a cold, stormy winter day. It was just what I needed. Thank you! Very well-written.

Ooh.

I /LIKED/ that very much (and not just because of the cool title, lol)!

Packed an awful lot into a well-chosen smaller group of words; nicely turned! It honestly never occurred to me before reading your stories that of course Han would have grown up in the Clone Wars and remembered at least something about them.

Lovely fic!
