I'm assuming that this is a divergent!fic where Edward _doesn't_ save Bella? (and b/c, unlike some Twilight fans, I've only read the series once through) I'm assuming that the accident happened before Edward fell madly in love with Bella?

Either way, amazing oneshot (or twoshot?), although it sounds less like a twoshot and more like the beginnings of a wonderful story. (although I'm still patiently waiting for the return of A Shattered Innocence)
