It's lovely!! I don't generally read AU, but your summary was enticing enough that here I am. Regarding the summary, you might change "deformity" to "disfigurement" as a deformity would have been something he was born with whereas disfigured implies what you've done here. As to the text of the story itself, I didn't see a single place where I thought anything was lacking or confusing or anything. It was just splendid all the way through. Poor Erik! AU or not, we're always saying that, are we not?

I was very confused for a little bit, but when I read it through the second time I understood a little more.
And this looks really good! I'm loving the Eric, the sarcasm is great.

Wonderful, wonderful prolouge. The prose, especailly the beginning paragraph, was captivating. I'd love to read more of this and see how Erik got to where he is now. Great job!
