Muahahahahahahahahahaha! okay now that's over i would just like to say that i love the story and the way you put the challenge together, brilliant! and if my um slightly excited reaction didn't prove it i really don't know what else would lol good story! oh and before i forget i would also like to say poor Severus! well Remus too but he had Sirius and Harry. So just wondering how are you going to incorporate Voldemort in here? well more so than already done... i should stop typing now or this will go on for the last O 9430 something characters i have wait 9402, 9393! aw whatever great story! = ) |
Immortal Sailor Cosmos 2009-11-11 . chapter 17GO HARRY! I wonder how Dumbledore will respond to that, I mean is publicly being called out, after all. I how you put that in the next chapter, since you didn't put it in this one, and where *did* Harry get all those injuries?
Can't wait for Friday!

 jimmy-barnes-13 2009-11-11 . chapter 17Go Harry! Fantastic chapter :) |
PadyandMoony 2009-11-11 . chapter 17 That's just evil. Letting me wonder how much choking Dumbledore is doing!
Great chapter! I loved all of it! Can't even pick a favorite part! |
Martionmanswife 2009-11-11 . chapter 17this is a great chapter. Dumbles needs to be humbled once in a while. I think he gets too "big for his robes" with his greater good excuse. LOVE THE STORY TOO. |
sierra's scarlet 2009-11-10 . chapter 16Harry just demonstrated maturity... yay! This is a nice change from the books. Good job with Draco drinking second - he's still a Slytherin. It has been a while, but thanks for the update. |
 Dust Particle 2009-11-09 . chapter 16YAY! You're back!
I have to say, i agree with the other comments. In the books, when Harry kills Quirrell, thats it. He wakes up and goes off on a tangent about the stone and the rest of it and we don't really see any of this emotional turmoil. So that was good of you to put that in. :)
Keep it up! Looking forward to reading the upcoming chapters. |
jimmy-barnes-13 2009-11-09 . chapter 16Very happy to see this new chapter. I really liked this version, especially Harry's reaction. Can't wait for more :) |
Immortal Sailor Cosmos 2009-11-09 . chapter 16YAY! Finally, a new chapter! I can't wait for the next one. I'm glad you added that last bit about Harry's reaction, because it always bothered me that he never really reacted to it, especially considering how he reacted to Cedric.

 PadyandMoony 2009-11-09 . chapter 16 I missed this story.
Anyway, you managed to put your own touches to the book and it was quite interesting, especially Harry's reaction. now to see his 'parents' reaction! Poor Padfoot and Moony, going to get gray before their time.
Great work! |
NiciCool 2009-10-16 . chapter 15Yeah, Americans are weird. My roommate even reads all the books in UK edition because she thinks it's silly that we have to have an "American" edition (which it is). However, I always confused as to why the original was "philosopher's stone" as philosophy is the study of beliefs, humanity, and general ideas such as (stereotypically) the reason for existence. Sorcerer never seemed quite right, either, however. I always thought a better name would have been "Alchemist's Stone"...
But I digress. This chapter is very similar (obviously) to the original book, but as you said you have a distinctly different writing style than Rowling. I feel this makes it a very different reading experience - especially as there are more characters present. I also like how you're making Neville, as well as other canon minor characters, an important and respect-worthy character early on.
Please update soon, I can't wait to see how the Hospital Wing scene will go, what with your portrayal of Dumbledore as a rather sneaky, controlling person. |
criminally charmed 2009-08-17 . chapter 15Hey! Don't blame all Yanks! I know damn well what a Philosipher's Stone and dislike Scholastic for wanting to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Some of us know myths and legends including ones on alchemy. |
Destiny Bunny 2009-08-16 . chapter 15 Love the story so far, cant wait to read more :-)
And re: your ps at the end of this chapter, they aren't weird, they are generally ignorant. It was decided that most/all Americans wouldn't know that 'philosopher' originaly meant 'scientist' and would never have heard of the philosophers stone. That's why they changed it. Not sure how they couldn't have myself, would have thought some of them would have at least read 'Frankenstein'... |
Nina 2009-08-14 . chapter 15 I thought the chapter was quite good anyway, even if you did have to rely on the book a bit. You changed as much as you kept (from what I remember, I haven't re-read it in a while), so I really wouldn't feel too bad about it. Also, as an American, I am not offended. I don't get the name change either, I mean what was the point? I guess they thought the public would think 'philosopher' sounded to complicated or fancy and not read the book? "That's not a childrens book, I think it must be about Socrates! But oh look: 'Sorcerer'! This ones about magic!11!" I'm more offended by the stupid publishing companies thinking the change was neccessary. *sigh* Seeing a new chapter to this story cheered me up a bit, but I'm still in a grumpy mood. And I get pedantic when I'm grumpy. And thus ends my random rant. |
Immortal Sailor Cosmos 2009-08-14 . chapter 15I agree with you non the Sorcerer's thing. And I'm American. It's a stupid thing to change. Although, ot us, a "philosipher" is a thinkier, not a magical type. Still stupid. The only *good* changes, so to speak, were the "jumper" to "sweater" (jumper is a yung girl's dress), "bloke" to "guy" and"Queue"(sp) to "line". we think of "cue" like "that is my cue to go on stage" not a line of people. Until I read Book 4, I'd never even heard of the word. I didn't know what a "bloke" was until like my 10th fanfiction with Brit in it. But otherwise, most words shouldn't change.
