Thank you so much for posting this. It's difficult to find good Shikamaru and Hinata stories. This was actually the first one (though I've read others) that made the wonder of them being a possibility in canon, which I would adore!

Although I like this pairing, it's unfortunate that not many writers pair together in their stories. So when I went to your profile and found a new story with a pairing that you don't normally write about got me very excited. I consider you to be one of the better writers of Naruto fanfiction and I regularly see if you have updated your stories.

Though it's not an update for Nezumi (my favorite of your stories), this was a welcomed surprise. You placed both Shikamaru and Hinata in a very realistic predicament. GIven that Shikamaru has already exhibited a desire to become somewhat of a surrogate father for Kurenai's child, as a replacement for his late sensei, it's realism stems from it's similarity to canon. It's nice that you depicted Shikamaru accurately, as he is a ninja who, although rather lazy and laid back, can be a force to be reckoned with when made angry. I did, however, find his knowledge of taijutsu to be somewhat out of character as that is his weakest ninja area, until you addressed the issue towards the end of the chapter. It really is a testament to his genius that he can become a formidable taijutsu user solely by training with Hinata every other day.

I like that Hinata also adopted a matronly role for Kurenai's baby. It's nice that Hinata is taking responsibility for the child of the woman who served as a proper parental figure when her father was still a bastard. She also seems to be the most closest with Kurenai out of her whole team. Seeing that both Shikamaru and Hinata has a similar goal, it only seemed logical for them to spend time together and slowly progress into something more. I just can't help but find it so adorable.

I wonder if this is going to be a multi-chaptered story or a one-shot?

Either way, I would read anything that you write, so... keep writing.
