I've just started this, and I'm excited. I am a sucker for "old soldier/cop/gunfighter/etc comes out of retirement" stories.

I think the thing I like about this, too, is that Shepard's daughter is the result of a random one night stand, and Shepard's thoughts and motivations based in her own turbulent upbringing. I can tell that this is going to be interesting.

I like also that she's on Eden Prime(!) and she is growing azaleas. And they won third place. And she has achey joints.

I like the feeling I am getting from imagining her there in her garden. I am just on the first chapter just now but I wanted to tell you what I was thinking while I read it. I hope you finished this!
