I have read this story before (and I really do love a Severus-adopts-little-Harry story) but I just wanted to step on my soapbox for a bit. Lately I have been noticing this with my sister and my brother. I hate it when people undermine a parent in front of their child. In my opinion, it's rude and gives the child the idea that their parent is wrong and doesn't have to be obeyed. Drives me crazy. Anyways, I think Severus handled Harry just fine but the idea that they (mostly McGonagall) were basically scolding Severus about his parenting skills (the candy, yelling, taking his dragon away, bedtime stories etc...) just made me want to tell them to mind their own business. They should at least have had the presence of mind to not say it in front of Harry.

Anyways, sorry about that. I really do love the story. That topic has just been bugging me lately.
