Loved the balance between romantic moments, squad reactions, and an amazing action sequence in this chapter! Les'ika is truly an interesting little character; you kept her quite human by showing that she's not brave by nature, but neither is she weak and helpless.

another well done chapter MMJ! Jas teaching Arlesse to shoot was such a senusal scene! and her opening up to him about the truth about her mother was also very touching.

Ah, beautiful chapter! Loved the post-kiss awkwardness from Jas, it seemed very in character for him! Also, I'm glad you put in the little bit of back story on Les'ika's mother, I thought it was a really nice idea!

So, Gath accepts what's going on, but he doesn't like it. Oh well, he'll get used to it.
So now we know the truth about Les'ika's mother. I know how her mom feels. I too feel trapped sometimes, and one of these days I'll be able to do something about it.
I just hope that Jas and Les'ika are able to let go when this is all over. Love hurts, especially when it ends.

Poor Les! Thanks for the back-story on her mother, it really explains her insecurities. Very nice. I was a bit surprised Gath was so nice about the whole Les'ika thing... I was expecting Jas to end up with a bruise to match Dusty's... I guess you treat your squad kinda like kids and choose your battles. The blaster lesson was great. I love your writing style, it's so descriptive and beautifully detailed. Almost poetry at times. Wonderful chapter!

FINALLY, they kissed!! Sorry, couldn't resist. Good for Jas, pushing aside his sense of duty. People can only do that for so long before something cracks.

Ah, moving on! Mara, that was beautiful! That was one of the sweetest romantic scenes I've read so far. You really got a lovely balance between the innocence and the passion of the moment.

Jas probably made the right decision to let Dusty be the one to remove his armor in case Arlesse needed help.

Gath really needs to lighten up though. I agree with Arlesse - a woman needs to bathe - even I don't like the idea of wearing the same outfit day in and day out. From personal experience having only 2 sets of kakhi's or working blues to wear just didn't cut it in the heat of the summer onboard the ship PU!

Your world is so colorful, your descriptions are fantastic, and your characters grow more endearing with each chapter. Loved the bathing scene but I must admit that I was disappointed in Jas' lack of reaction when Dusty was clearly baiting him. I guess he has more self control than I would have imagined. Keep up the amazing work, I cannot wait for chapter 11!

Once again, Les'ika comes up with some food. Good for her! I do like her a lot.
I do wish Jas would just own up to his feelings for Les'ika, and she for him. Course, rejection does sting, and Jas knows he doesn't have long to live(at least, I think I read that in an earlier chapter), so maybe he's right. Meh, what do I know?
I enjoyed Les'ika's bathing scene for some reason. I'd probably do the same thing in her position.
