Wonderful, excellent, amazing chapter! This story has an incredibly inviting and deliciously interesting beginning! I can't wait to read the next chapter. I am certain that this story will not disappoint. "Mara, Daughter of the Nile" is one of my favorite books and I'm glad that it has such a good fanfic written for it. I'm also very happy that the first fanfic I read on one of my favorites was such a good one!

The fangirl nerd in me just loves how you have brought the 18th Dynasty right down to the present day with all the political danger and interpersonal tension still intact. I especially love it that Sheftu is stll managing to stir things up, 4000 years later... What a guy! :D

Your original characters are engaging, too.

It's a true shame that this story doesn't have more reviews, because I'm finding it's very well written and engaging! You're doing a brilliant job (though it is a little vague in some areas) and the story flows along quite well. It's so creative too, and I like how you write!

You also seem to have done your research :) I can't tell you how much it bothers me when people write historical anything and it's so blatantly obvious that they haven't done a lick of research... Anyways. Quality fanfiction! Quality Mara fanfiction is even rarer to come by.
