I don't usually go for this pairing, but something about your description drew me in. I'm so pleased to have read this- it's written beautifully, in character, and had me close to tears near the end. I love the Kisame/Itachi dynamic, too. Thank you for sharing this.

Why do itasaku fics have to be so sad? I feel so sorry for poor Itachi. He has known of his death his whole life and has resigned to it becoming an empty shell long before his actual death...

This fic is great but I really wished Itachi had left at least one good thing behind (a baby with Sakura maybe?). It's a shame for someone like him to live a life that serves no purpose.
