Aw! Lovely images of lonely Severus tenderly tending his plant collection. I love the idea of Neville boldly but sensitively paying his respects year after year, biding time to bring his former Professor back to the Hogwarts fold. I always suspected that Neville had a subtlety that the Chosen One knows not ... :-)

Excellent job of characterization on both Neville and Snape! I've always liked stories in which, after several years, Snape returns to Hogwarts. Neville being the one with the courage to bring Severus back works well.

If the plants are well-tended, they speak for themselves of the care given them. Neville knows that language well.

And...it is interesting that no one else has bothered, no matter what Neville says, isn't it?

Here's hoping the lunch goes well (there are so many ways it could go badly, because Neville thinks people will laud Snape the way he does, instead of hissing at the killer of Dumbledore).
