Taka Momos 2009-10-20 . chapter 1Damn, you have no idea how close to home that embarrassment thing hit.
Nice story, I loved it. I think I'm getting a little addicted to your stories :) |
rika 2009-09-20 . chapter 1 he got way too easy!Heero make him go throught hell and with one stupid phrase hes forgiven?? not fair! Duo is better of... |
 Shadowcat0070 2009-01-29 . chapter 1 finally got a chance to read this one =D
As always, another wonderful Christmas story. It was upsetting that Heero simply left Duo right in the middle of their holiday celebration and I could sympathize with poor Duo's efforts to try and get Heero back.
I'm glad there was a happy and sweet ending to this ^^
I would be terribly sad if you discontinued your wonderful Christmas stories, as I'm sure all your fans would be xD |
waterlilylf 2008-12-30 . chapter 1Well, I'm terribly sorry but I can't promise that I'll remind you NOT to write a Christmas story next year, not when this was so good!
I love after the War stories, and this was wonderful, even if I hated Heero the first time I read it...Second time, I started reading between the lines. I could see Duo determined to prove how well he's adapting to life by throwing his over the top parties, and I could see poor Heero desperately trying to keep up with his whirlwind partner, as well as worrying over the mundane things, like how they're going to afford all this extravagance...
Yes, he handled things very badly, but I got the impression that he'd just been pushed too far, and he just thought he had to get away.
I liked the way their friends dealt with it; they didn't assign blame, and that for one told me that they obviously felt there had been some fault on both sides, they just realised how miserable Heero and Duo were apart and tried to get them back together.
Yes, they should both have done many things differently and there were really were times when i wanted to belt Heero over the head, but he came through in the end. I hope he got Duo a very nice present as well!
The ending was realistic, but with a nice little dose of romance and sap as well. Like Trowa said, they are only at the beginning of their adult lives and there will be more problems. Of course, there will, but they are starting to open up to each other, and that has to be a major start, right? |
Kato-chan 2008-12-28 . chapter 1I agree with a previous reviewer. The entire time I was reading this I felt extreme sympathy and a sense of deep unfairness for Duo. Heero walked out on him, further humiliated him for a month and then said, 'oh, I just didn't have the balls to tell you to tone things down' bs. What bothered me as well was how their friends were treating Duo as if it was his fault heero walked out on him and it's his responsibility to win him over. Please. If anything heero should be begging fir his forgiveness. I'm sorry but this is one fic where I wish duo had flat out rejected heero or made him suffer long and hard. I love your fics Dyna but I don't think I'll be rereading this one. |
solitairesworld 2008-12-26 . chapter 1While it was stressfull for you it was perfect for us. Wonderful as always. I hope your Christmas was full of peace and blessings. Solitaire |
mechante fille 2008-12-26 . chapter 1I'm so glad that they finally communicated and worked things out. I was getting worried there for a bit! Thanks for the Christmas fic!! |
Jeice 2008-12-25 . chapter 1OK, so this is just another story of yours that helps me remember why you are on my Fav. Authors list. I've been reading your fics for years, and for years I've been trying to come up with stories half as good.
LONG STORY SHORT... GREAT HOLIDAY FIC!

Azamiko 2008-12-25 . chapter 1Okay, good story, but it rather annoyed me. (Not the story itself, obviously.) Heero walked out, in front of their friends, on a holiday Duo had been excited about, with less than a paragraph of explanation, basically refused contact with Duo for an entire month--while Duo was pretty much desperately trying to understand and win him back--stayed with a guy who was interested in him--and innocent or not, he had to have known that that wasn't a nice thing to do--and then returned WITHOUT ANY APOLOGY, and explained that, really, his problem was that he didn't know how to say what he really wanted.
I'm all for forgive and forget, but, no. That's just...*shakes head* From what we 'saw' of their relationship, in this fic, it's ALWAYS been Duo doing the chasing, working on the relationship and their normal lives. Whereas it just seems like Heero has to make an effort to even BE in a relationship. He even seems to resent having to put in extra effort about things Duo cares about, like these holidays. It feels distinctly uneven and unfair. As far as I'm concerned, Duo really didn't do anything wrong. If Heero had been able to say what he wanted, then Duo would have acquiesced, or they could have compromised. |
Random Reviewer 2008-12-24 . chapter 1 Perfect for Christmas! :) I loved it.
Don't be surprised if none of us remind you to not write any more Christmas stories. You're too good at them. :D |
SukiNora 2008-12-24 . chapter 1This is a beautiful story, and waking up to seeing it made my christmas eve start out brightly. I loved the ending so much, you write so vividly and that whole situation just left me floored. : ) |
snowdragonct 2008-12-24 . chapter 1Yeah, but if you didn't write one, we'd miss it!
Anyhow, this is a story I can SO identify with...at least the breakup part. I don't think I'll get the happy ending Duo got; but then my ex-to-be isn't Heero...or he wouldn't be an ex-to-be.
But you did a great job of portraying the awkwardness of trying to reach out after a very unpleasant break in a relationship. It's not easy...no matter who's making the effort.
And I've had days I wanted to toss the tree out the door like Duo, too.
Loved the kids at the end...they were a nice touch. I could completely picture the snowball smacking the side of Duo and Heero's faces in mid-kiss. AND the vengeance of Gundam pilots to be visited on the little "punks." Yeah, they'll get theirs.
So...this was a bittersweet sort of Christmas story...a happy ending, but it's obvious there's still much work ahead of them on their relationship. There's a lot of realism in this, a touch of fluff, and much optimism. I'm always grateful for a promising ending...never been a fan of death fics or sad, miserable conclusions. This is a wonderfully warm ending, that gives me hope...so Merry Christmas to you, too! -snow |
lildeamon666 2008-12-24 . chapter 1This story was qute! I loved it! I'll be reading more of yours soon after the hectic holidays. Thanks for the great read, I enjoyed it. Merry Christmas! |
Artificial Starlight 2008-12-24 . chapter 1Ha, I let out a big "awe" at the end. This was a great story, as always, I love your writing, I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't an actual author (published books and everything).
Anyway, this was an awesome holiday story for this couple even though it was sad and full of angst, the end cheered me up nicely. Thank you for the great read! Have an amazing Christmas! |
