Maybe I'm a sucker for tidy endings but I liked this ending the best. As for having not enjoyed writing it never comes thru in the writing. I enjoyed reading it immensely. I also want to thank you for not only sticking it out to the finish but also thank you for writing Foyle's War fan fiction because there is so little out there and you're a great writer. For a heart-stopping moment I thought you were going to arrange it so that everything had been a dream while Lynley was in a coma, but I'm glad you took the other way out and made it a shared time-travel experience for him and Havers. I'm glad too that you allowed Foyle and Sam to work things out, and happily too.

As for your not enjoying the writing of this, good for you for sticking it out, and of course the nice thing about fanfiction is that there's always the next story to work on. If you didn't produce the effect you wanted before, you can always aim for it in an upcoming fanfic.

Of the three I think this is my favourite scenario (although I liked all three endings). Everyone was happy and that's great! Again I'm sorry this fic is ending. I know you wrote you struggled but I don't feel that came through in the story. I really enjoyed this like you wouldn't believe. Thank you again for sharing your wonderful idea.

I enjoyed that ending; it was a touch bittersweet yet still happy.

One does wonder how Sam will make the adjustment to the 21st century, and of course how Mr. Foyle adjusted to Havers. I love the idea of them nurturing those war orphans.

I like this ending :)! I can see how Havers would be happy in the 50ies... thanks for a great story!

I thought the transition back to the present was appropriate, but of course it broke my heart to hear of the Havers-Lynley estrangement, and of course it was a little bit unsettling to hear Sam married Andrew (but at least someone got married!).

Eagerly awaiting the next two encores...
