//She was still too young to know how to tell them that what she wanted to learn was the language of freedom.//

Wow that line just brought tears to my eyes. The powerful innocence and teh deep understanding that only a child could comprehend without even realizing.

I loved how Anakin and Kitster shared that bond of brotherhood that not even the years and the war could destroy. It was still heartbreaking to see how Anakin tried desperately to find solace, a means of escape through those letters. How in the end his final wish could not be literally shared and yet it was understood.

Kitsters side of the story was equally haunting how he moved on and yet his heart remained to the past. That despite the years apart he still saw Anakin as his brother--and the rain. That was such a powerful symbol. I loved too how his relationship with Shmi how she was like the mother to Kitster and his colleagues. That was so touching I really could see it too.

Melee's story was so sad how the desert almost broke her and yet she still found hope in it. The reunion with Waru made me smile that was so sweet how she thoguht he was beautiful and that connection they found with one another.

Amee's story too was sweet how her mother found her as well as Imer with her father. Same with Kitster finding his brother's children. I really loved how you interwoven their lives together explaining what became of them and how everything fell into place with the passing of time.

The contrast between Luke and Leia was just perfect I could see her struggling to contain her anger and sorrow, while Luke has since learned to let go of his pain.

The storm too was such a perfect ending how they learned about Kitster, their father and themselves. That silent understanding that no words could describe.

Seriously this was beautiful and incredibly touching!

That was such a beautiful story. You really made the desert alive and a force in the lives of the characters. Also help in understanding Anakin and Obi Wan and how their relationship could go so wrong.

Also Kister telling Luke and Leia the story of the desert and then their father was just a fantastic touch.

Oh my. This story has such a haunting feeling to it. Like none of this is real at all and yet is very real. Nothing forces you to face harsh reality like a desert, and nothing can cast illusions like a desert. There's a reason New Mexico is called "The Land of Enchantment" after all. I can't get this out of my head.

Good job. Very well done indeed.

This story made me want to break into the opening musical number from Prince of Egypt--"Deliver us..." :)

I swear, I never cared about Tatooine a tenth as much as you can make me with these oneshots. Just beautiful writing. Possibly my only critique would be that I think you might have more than one story in this one. I think it might be possible to break this into a few different related pieces--especially the part at the end where Kitster meets Luke and Leia. It might also be even more effective that way. But of course it's your work, and it's fine as it is. Just an idea. :)

I love it. You have a gift.

Wow. That's amazing. It's very deep and describes the desert very well (and I live in the desert, so I should know). Happy New Year!
