Sam-Sam-Samedi 2009-10-04 . chapter 1I don't typically read in the Naruto section these days, but I found this to be interesting overall. o: Itachi's friendship with Kakashi added some much-needed depth to his relationship with Sasuke, too. (I prefer this to the "because I relate to angsty geniuses :D" trope it seems to be thus far. Or whatever Kishimoto says it is. /: )
Ah, also! I really thought you addressed the manga's hypocrisy well when you decided to have Naruto opt out of "short-cutting" his way to success. It gave more meaning to his character's archetype and mantra. (Although, if I may, it came off as a bit weak because Naruto is/was still Konohamaru's mentor. I don't think that, given their little hardwork speech, he would decide to take the scroll for the same reason your Naruto didn't. Even so, if Mizuki actually kidnapped Konohamaru for whatever reason, then just ignore this.)
As for the characters, Sasuke is really great in this. So amusingly blunt. XD Naruto, too. I'll have to see about Yuni, only because (to the reader, mind you) she doesn't seem to have a solidified personality yet. I'm curious to see more of her background so I can gauge what her role in their story is. (I like that she seems contradictory. She is both polite and impolite at random intervals.) |
Phantasque 2009-01-03 . chapter 1Wow, the last line was just heartwrenching.
I absolutely adore your characterization of Itachi, and the relationship between him and Kakashi is astounding. The duty and loyalty conversation between those two just killed my hopes that the whole AR part of your story would be Itachi not killing the clan. Anyways, I'm hoping that he'll hold some huge role in your story, mainly because a) he's my favorite character and b) you write him beautifully. |
