Another great story. I don't like Xianghua so much - I find her annoying. However, the writen version is a lot more tolerable than the game version. I also prefer the cannon or 'true' pairings, and I've always liked Kilik.
However, nothing is perfect - though you're getting close.
Watch your tenses - present and past. It is not a big distraction, merely a speed bump - over and done with, but deffinitely felt.
Good writing, and keep writing. Practice makes perfect (or a close as anything can get) after all.
