I hope you know I'm eternally going to wonder what he had to show her...a map of Gabon?! More animals trapped in rock? What? ...he doesn't even leave the house so what could it possibly be?

Also wow I Love the X-Files (as any sensible person does) and always sympathize with poor Scully who has such a strong connection to such a frustrating/arrogant/selfish/stubborn/opinionated/paranoid/childish/intelligent/unreasonable/passionate man who drags her all over the country, has her do countless autopsies, ignores her reasonable explanations, and gets into trouble and makes her worry almost chronically. It's an incredible relationship (and I think I'm gonna have to start an X-Files marathon after this) and I think you portrayed it really well - I really felt something when she tried explaining what SHE needed and he still didn't get it. I'm so glad he chose her instead of just expecting her to change her mind - Aaw he listened :) I was expecting the worst when she sent him home and that they'd go their separate ways til IWTB.

BTW Love the whole teleportation to Gabon thing, that's just crazy enough to be true X-Files. They had better make a 2012 movie or I shall be P.O'd.

Thank you for this story. Your use of detail gives it a fine grounded feeling, and your characterizations of Scully and Mulder tally well with what I've seen onscreen. I can really picture Scully's ambivalence! I find your scenarios very plausible, and though it made me ache a bit for both of them, I enjoyed having this time frame filled in.

You drew me in. I felt like I was right there next to Scully, living through all these times of suspense and the dificulties of her decision. You have such a subtle way to decribe the tiniest details, which flesh out the whole story and make it special.
