Very, very cool. I think this is my favorite portrayal of Methos yet. In order to have survived for 5,000 years, the man has to have unexplored depths. Survival is not a pretty business. I know I'm late to the site, but I hope to see a follow up on Methos' world.

I really like this fanfic. It portrays Methos as what he originally was, and something like that doesn't just go away. Well written, thank you for sharing. Could you possibly write more to this? (Hint!)

It's very true what you said in the comments - there are too many of stories that depict Methos as a harmless romantic. Get real! In any case, it was a pleasure to read your story :)

That was so creepy!I have to say that your Methos was very very AU. Frankly,I think that Methos is capable of great goodness or great evil and I believe that not even The Old Man himself knows what he's all about either.But would he do the things in your story i.e. killing Amanda and Duncan and Cassandra? (well maybe Cassandra)From what I've seen in the series and the movies, I for one think that The Old Man can be a manipulator but he can also be loving and loyal as well.Remember the episode Indiscretions when he helped Joe rescue his daughter by fighting that Immortal? He didn't have to do that, when Joe asked for his help he could've pulled a disappearing act but he didn't.Apparently, you've forgotten what Fitz told Duncan in Not to Be,that the reason Methos became evil was because Duncan wasn't there,so obviously some of Duncan the Boy Scout had rubbed off on Methos.As for Methos loving himself more, of course he does that's how he's stayed alive for five thousand years,but I truly think that if it REALLY came down to it he would sacrifice his life for his friends,after all he has never had friends like Duncan,Joe,Amanda or Richie.How can Kronos,Caspian and Silas compare to them ?Do I think that a Dark Methos lurks beneath the surface? Yes.But I also think that Methos keeps HIM under control,you can't live for five thousand years seeing and doing all kinds of things without becoming a little dark.

I agree, Methos could always have been evil or maybe he just played the "GAME". THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

I would actually like to address your justification. I have never seen Cassandra as evil. The character was protrayed as being driven to the point of single-mindedness and that can be dangerous. She saw Methos as he was.

I do agree that many fanfic authors have "tamed" Methos into MacLeod's housewife, referring especially here to some slash stories. I think that the truth about the character is simpler: in each person, there is capacity for great good and great evil. Immortals have the opportunity to explore both extremes more thoroughly and Methos is a prime example of this.

On to the story: I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more on up the list.

Would never begin to believe that the man is tame, not in the slightest. But then, I never thought of him as truly evil either. Granted, Cassandra wasn't evil, just angry.

At any rate, this is a good story. I don't agree with it, but it's still very good.

Well, that certainly was a *different* kind of story. I do very much like Methos, and kind of found myself thinking "Oh, that's not fair, or right," but I was still intrigued. It was a very interesting picture and it's always nice to have a bit of a different perspective at times. That's the great thing about fanfic - you can explore and enjoy these 'what if's, without worrying or getting mad because they're not canon. And I always kind of liked the idea of Methos being the last (evil or not, I suppose). And for some reason, the last line of your story made me laugh. I know it's not a funny line, but I think it's just the idea of it. Anyway...way to shake things up a bit.

Sounds like you've got a decent bead on Methos, but I don't think you make him quite clever enough in your Buffy stories. I think it's because you rush your work.

I loved your fanfic. I think that it's the darkest portrait of methos I' ve read. no words can express how I like Cassandra in this.

I love your story! I am from Austria and my English isn't very good but your story is really one of the bests I've ever read. I like Methos very much but nevertheless I enjoy the way you personate him.
